The sun is high in the sky and summer is officially in full swing, but have you planned how you’re going to spend the long blissful days ahead? We’ve put together a killer summer full of awesome design related activities!

1. Make a weekly flower arrangement.

Why not celebrate summer by making flowers part of your weekly schedule? Have fun with it- incorporate fruits, flea market finds, and extra little plants from the garden to brighten your space with something new every week.

2. Organize everything.

Yup, we said it. It feels so nice to have a fresh and open space in the summertime, so get your closet neat and orderly, color-code your bookshelf, and stow away any loose papers and random stuff lying around.

3. Become a macrame maven.

From festival style to home decor, macrame is everywhere this summer. Start learning how to make your first macrame projects now, so you’ll be an expert by the end of the summer!

4. Stir up some fancy summer cocktails.

With all the summer entertaining you’ll be doing (especially after reading this list), you might want to step up your mixology skills. Mix up a signature drink so good, it will have all your friends wildly dancing to Sir Mix-a-Lots’ “Baby Got Back”. Get the recipe for this “Indian Summer” Bourbon Cocktail.

5. Tie-dye to your heart’s desire.

If there’s a time for tie-dye, it’s summer. Somehow we see this crafty pattern making its return in the warmer months year after year. If you have kids, tie-dyeing will keep them occupied on a hot summer afternoon and you might end up with some pretty sweet couch pillows. Learn how to get the look of shibori dyed pillows, here.

6. Transform your home into your ideal vacation spot.

Can’t swing a summer vacation this year? It may not be quite the oasis you had in mind but with a few decor tweaks you can bring the vacation home! If you have Greece on the mind add pops of ocean blue and flowing white textiles. Or, visit Morocco without stepping a foot out the front door.

7. Up your insta-game and your art.

Here’s a fun idea. If you don’t follow designer/artist/author Justina Blakeney on Instagram yet, hit the follow button right away and then have your own #facethefoliageparty. This basically involves you and your friends creating portraits from flower petals and other foliage, taking Instagram pics of the portraits, and then enlarging the photos to hang on your wall for some eclectic summer vibes. Brilliant.

8. Host your own summer olympics.

Get the fam together for a day of outdoor fun and games like croquet, water balloon races, ring tosses, and anything else you can think of. This DIY mini golf set utilizes galvanized building materials from the Home Depot, so it’s pretty easy to put together. And come on, who doesn’t love mini golf?

9. Give outdoor movies a new meaning.

All you need to make this dream come to life is a projector, a screen (or you can use the wall of your house if possible), comfy cushions, outdoor mood lighting, and popcorn.

10. Exercise your green thumb.

Even small spaces can have small gardens. There are tons of ways to get crafty with planter arrangements or vertical gardens, which can easily fit in small patio spaces.

11. Trade your car for a bike.

Bikes are the ultimate summer accessory. If you live close to work there’s no excuse not to hop on, but if you don’t, start a weekend biker gang with your friends and explore your neighborhood by pedal. You’ll be getting exercise, reducing emissions and all the while, looking cool (even if you’re a little sweaty).

Summer is still in full swing but the hot days won’t last forever. Don’t let the season pass you by without checking a few activities off your bucket list!
