While friends are out exploring, you might be spending more time at home this summer than traveling. NEWS FLASH! You don’t need to leave town to feel like you’re taking an exotic getaway. This summer, bring the vacation home! Laurel & Wolf has crafted this guide to bring you the most beautiful designs of Morocco. We’ve gathered plenty of inspiration from some of Morocco’s finest hotels, riads, and hostels to help you get the look at your own place!

La Mamounia, Marrakesh

La Mamounia is the imperial palace of Moroccan hotels. While it exemplifies the typical Moorish detailing of Moroccan design, it oozes luxury thanks to the recent million dollar detailing of designer Jacques Garcia, who updated the hotel’s itszellig-tiled domes and overall decor with modern sensibilities. If you have a pool at your place it’s probably a little less elaborate than this one, but with some Moroccan-inspired pool tiling and hanging pendant lights, you can achieve a similar aesthetic.

Dar Roumana, Fez

This traditional riad (house or palace with an interior courtyard) offers five luxury suites that showcase the work of local artisans. The flowing white canopy curtains of the four poster bed in conjunction with the horseshoe arches, tile work, and colors of the room exhibit Morocco’s unique mix of Mediterranean and Islamic influences. Get the look with a sheer canopy drape and Moroccan rugs.

Equity Point, Marrakesh

Despite its affordable pricing, this boutique hostel doesn’t sacrifice great design. If you have any peaked window or doorway arches in your home you’re set (they also make great framing devices), but you can get a similar look to this classic Moroccan, Berber influenced spot with a day bed and an off-white, sponge painted wall.

La Sultana, Marrakesh

Your porch or patio can easily take on the style of this blissful deck at one of Marrakech’s premier hotels with a crisp rattan furniture set. Complete the look by throwing a patterned rug under the patio table and enjoy your breakfast as if you’re vacationing at this North African paradise.

Les Jardins de la Medina, Marrakesh

This idyllic hotel puts a traditional twist on the Moorish looks of Moroccan design. Decorate your windows with a pair of long, luxurious curtains that have a little shimmer to them and add a runner to your bed that will transport you straight to the tranquility of Les Jardins de la Medina.

As you can see, the unique fusion of styles that make Morocco’s architecture and design so captivating are not entirely out of reach in your own home. If you unfortunately have to miss out on a summer vacation this year, you can still pretend you’re traveling and get some much needed R&R in the comfort of your own home; minus all the travel expenses and jet lag. So it really is a win/win situation!
