5 Ways to Balance Your Life

Finding a balance in life is never a easy thing to do as life often gets in way. As if life itself has a natural yearning to be unbalanced and unpredictable, it often puts us in a spin and tests our limits. Myself included, I often am put to the test of trying to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle where I’m not only happy, but I can get done what I need to get done.

So throughout the years we have taken some notes of what works in terms of balancing life incase you need help balancing yours as well!

  1. Pick 3–4 focal points — Find the 3–4 things you are lost passionate about that you will always make time for. It can be a significant other, a hobby or sport, or even school. But only pick 3–4 so then you can focus on those, then you’re able to better allocate your time for your other activities.
  2. Find time for fun — Yes, success comes with hard work, but you also need to keep sane. For some people this is going to a football game or just hanging out with a friend for a couple hours. Whatever your “fun” is you need to make some time for it every week to keep your mental stability because with out your mind, it’s hard to do any quality work. This is crucial to the essence of balance. You cant have work without fun and vice versa.
  3. Weed out the time wasters — this can be your Netflix, or online window shopping, etc whatever it is, the majority of us are guilty of wasting time somewhere. But don’t get this confused with what you do to have fun. There is fun and then there is time wasting, you know what you’re doing that is just wasting time, so just cut it out. This can best be addressed by keeping track of what you do during your day. Tv, travel, phone, sleeping. All of t can be track and actually see how you are spending your time. You might be surprised at what you see.
  4. Don’t forget about your health — whether it’s mentally or physically, you need to maintain your health. Having fun helps the mental, but don’t forget about your physical body either. Sometimes we work so hard we forget to go for a walk, a job, or work out. Take a step back because you’d rather take some time out the week to get some exercise so you can live happily for 120 years rather than live a healthy 60 years and battle for the rest of your life because you didn’t want to walk an hour a day while catching up with a neighbor. Making health conscious decisions now, can pay dividends in the future and make balancing much easier.
  5. Make sure can smile at the end of the day — whatever it is you’re doing, you need to be able to smile and sleep at the end of the day. I know personally if I don’t get everything done that I wanted to that day, I start to stress myself out and get angry. That’s why I work so hard now to get everything done so that when I lay my head to sleep I can be happy with my accomplishments.

All of this takes time. Understand that balance doesn't happen overnight. It takes a very conscious effort, a deep understanding of yourself, your wants and needs and your schedule. Don’t get put off though, it has very rewarding effects and set you up for a future of success and happiness!! Getchogrindup!!
