and our experience of being hunted by Product Hunt
Couple of months ago we started our very first startup journey with Getform. After we started to work on, everyday during the work hours we were having Slack conversation with the other co-founders about our product’s features and wondering how much useful Getform could be for their future users. Now it’s proven :)
On Monday morning, September 5th, Getform was featured on Product Hunt and reached #4 of the front page.
What is Getform?
Getform is a web tool that serves web form processing for designers and developers to control their form data without any coding or any need of technical skills.
In the last couple of weeks before the unexpected hunt of Product Hunt, we had already started talking about when we could launch Getform in the global community. But we were planning to go for smoother launch and we were so happy to find Product Hunt invitation on Twitter. Unfortunately(!) we couldn’t get the chance of posting Getform by ourselves :)
Launch Day
On the 5th of September, I woke up early because it was a really special day for me since it was my first day of Master’s degree, I was really excited and ready for the classes. 10 minutes after I entered my first master class I received a notification from Kevin William David that says:
The only thing we could say at that moment was “Thank you Kevin!” since we were hunted by Product Hunt and we really did thank him :)
Featuring on PH was one of the most amazing things that we have dreamed of and we were so surprised. I was hunted in the middle of classroom and suddenly texted the other co-founders to ask them handle the day of PH launch but for the other co-founders the situation was also not so bright. One of them was in the consulate of Malaysia trying to get his visa and the other one was at the dentist for the operation that will take couple of hours. WTF ! What a good timing :)
Suddenly I decided to go back home. While I was on my way home, we were texting with the other co-founders and living those unbelievable moments. When I went back home, I was monitoring that the server was working well, answering the questions on comments, and working on the feedback and suggestions on the site.
In these moments; with each new upvote, comment and e-mail coming from PH users who are really respected we have been learning how people react our new startup and this was just amazing!
Okay the feedbacks..
Most of the people on comments gave great feedbacks for us to improve our service in the future, and we tried to reply each questions that we had in the fastest way possible. That was really important for us because we were learning what startup community is expecting from our service in future.
Besides the PH user feedbacks we received some more feedbacks from other social media channels and e-mails. We would like to thank once again for the great feedbacks and interests shown to Getform.
The Stats
Getform was listed in the #1 spot for about half of the day, and finished the day with #4 spot. On the launch day we’ve had around 275 upvotes and as of now the number of upvotes is about 360.
During the launch day, we had ~6000 visits for ~15000 page views and more than 400 new signups. The traffic comes to our website was so high during that week. But for us the quality of the visitors was more important than the volume of the visitors , because we were reaching the best minds of startup world. And that was simply “ProductHunt Effect”
Conclusion
We are really delighted that Product Hunt had given us this opportunity to reach so many developers and designers. We want to thank the Product Hunt community for this unexpected hunt, their support, for really kickstarting our first startup journey and for making our dreams come true.
