Exercise and getting in shape is something that appeals to many different people for many reasons. Fitness is an important part of being healthy in life. You can live a healthier and more enjoyable life when you are in great shape.

Here are three tips to help you achieve a healthier YOU!

1. Set Goals That You Can Hit

If you haven’t worked out in a gym before, have a personal training give you some tips. The trainer will also help you set goals and determine what exactly you need to do to reach those goals. Do not be intimidated by working out, but if you feel the impulse to walk out of the gym, go see a trainer first. You will be on your way to a great start with a plan you can stick to.

Setting obtainable goals act as a powerful form of motivation. They keep you extremely focused on overcoming the obstacles that hold you back instead of highlighting how difficult the task is. In addition, it identifies your fitness plan as a long-term process, which can encourage you to keep moving forward instead of simply giving up because you don’t have a defined objective.

Choose an exercise program that tones your muscles as well as offers flexibility exercises. Are there any classes in your area? Research the possibilities.

Inhale at the beginning of your reps when weight lifting, and exhale at the end of your reps. That will help your body to maximize energy usage and lets you breathe in more air when you exhale; that will give you a lot more energy overall.

The best way for a person to get more out of his or her routine is to do a wide variety of exercises. Someone who usually uses an indoor exercise bike can bike around on the streets in their neighborhood.

2. Track Your Progress and Challenge Yourself

Keep an accurate daily log. Log what you eat and any exercise you do. Also, note the weather every day. You will be able to reflect on any highs or lows if you do. When you can’t exercise on a day, be sure to record why not.

For a general workout that will benefit multiple muscle groups, concentrate on completing a smaller number of repetitions at a higher weight. Focus on one muscle group at a time: start with your chest for instance. Make sure you do a set of reps using light weights. You should be able to do 15–20 reps at your warm-up weight. For your second set, select a weight for which you can only perform 6–8 reps. Add about five more pounds and repeat.

If you want to work your triceps, pushups are the way to go. Normal, style pushups don’t really target your triceps.

3. Keep Your Food Intake in Check

As previously stated, eating a well-balanced diet and exercising can boost your fitness and help you live a healthier life for a long time. Remember that your health is important, so don’t take it for granted. Be sure to apply the advice you’ve read here, and you’ll be working towards a healthier lifestyle.

Limit your weight lifting time to one hour. Your muscles start to deteriorate if you train for more than an hour.
