The holidays are in and can go in any direction mentally and physically. The holidays can be stressful, but just know that it takes mindfulness to get through it! You can get through them with peace and joy instead of tension and headaches. The holidays can present extra-stressful situations with family, friends and social events, so greater care is required at those times to prevent them from becoming problematic in the long run. You have to make a conscious effort in order to relax and unwind. Burning out is a problem that doesn’t seem to slow down.

To maintain work and life balance, here are 7 tips to help you decompress for 2018! it’s time to relax and embrace the season.

1. Eat Healthier

Eating healthier improves your energy as well as your productivity levels. finding time to eat right is challenging year-round for many people, who are busy professionals who frequently consume meals on the go. Over the holidays, take a piece of that pineapple upside-down cake, but keep your cravings in check. Moderation is the key. Look into local meal prep businesses because paying more for convenience can help you in the long run.

2. Find Time for Videos and Other Activities

The holidays are not a time to worry and stress about things that don’t have a place in your life. Remember that stress can be converted into anger and frustration. Use your time wisely to decompress and keep your mind off work and business. Watch more videos on YouTube, read more books, go on more social dates with friends and significant partners, and go more on walks and adventures like hiking and bike rides.

3. Breathe Deeply

It’s amazing what 10 minutes of closing your eyes and deep breathing can do. Regularly practicing breathing and awareness techniques is simple, and at the very least, you deserve some time to yourself.

4. Improve Your Scheduling Availability

Make more time for yourself! Go on more vacations and regardless of what your job has to say, do it anyways! People who take time off from work and go on vacation, perform better at work than those who don’t. You work way too hard not to. Remember you deserve what you’re putting in.

5. Outsource and Delegate More

When you make your to do and goals list through New Year’s Day, check it twice; you’re going to find out who else can handle some of it. Outsource or delegate a little more. Your time is limited and valuable, so make sure to spend it wisely.

6. Communicate More

Ask your family what they need most from you. It may be something different than you think. It never hurts to ask family and friends this question and it won’t take anything away from you.

7. Remember What’s Important to You

Find your why! It’s an ideal time of year to pause and reflect on why you do what you do, both at work and home. Every day you impact lives, and those people also impact you. Take a moment to acknowledge the person you see in the mirror and express gratitude for those you love.

This holiday season, give yourself the best version of yourself that has a calmer mind with less stress. You’ll be readier to flip the calendar to 2018 with a better mindset and ready to tackle your schedule with renewed energy.
