How to Cure a Hangover
No, this is NOT Coach Pete in the picture..
It’s Friday night. You know what that means…
Whether you’re going out to get drinks, hanging out at home or going somewhere special, alcohol is more than likely going to be involved.
I’ve covered this topic of which alcoholic beverages to stick to in the past, but today I’m going to provide a little more information than that…
You see, I always get asked what the best types of booze to drink are, and normally leave my answer at that. To review, I’d say the best hierarchy of alcoholic beverages is:
Hard Liquor > Wine > Beer
Of the Hard Liquors, the best are gin and tequila. Dry red wines are OK. Beer is just… NO!
Long story short, you want to stay away from the sugar and grain content that makes up most drinks. That eliminates beer completely, and most wines of both the red and white varieties.
Now, just because you have this hierarchy memorized doesn’t mean you’re in the clear! Depending on how badand how much your alcoholic beverage choices are, your decision to drink AT ALL will result in the slowing of your metabolism for a duration of anywhere from 24–72 hours.
Obviously, if you’re looking to lose weight and get healthy, this is not good…
Fortunately, I came across a post-drinking smoothie recipe that can help de-toxify your liver FASTER, which will minimize the amount of time your body’s metabolism and liver function have slowed. It can also cure your hangover thanks to the power of the superfoods within it!
I can’t take credit for this — The recipe is by a holistic doctor I follow named Dr. Eric Berg. While I, like him, have not personally tried this post-night-out concoction (I rarely drink anymore), give it a whirl after a night of drinking to see how it does for you.
Ingredients:
A Handful of Kale
1 Cup of Berries of your choice
Fill the rest of the cup up with water
Directions: Blend for three minutes, and see how she goes…
Again, I want to stress that I haven’t tasted or tried this beverage, so don’t scream at me if it tastes like dookie. I came across the recipe this morning when a client of mine was expressing concern about going out for drinks, and figured this information could be beneficial to more than just her and me.
Have a great night! Talk tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Coach Pete
