How to Stop Cheating All the Time With Your Nutrition…

What if I told you that I had an effective tip that can help you to stop ‘cheating’ with your nutrition? You know before you eat that ‘cheat’ food that it’s not a good idea, but you do it anyway. Why do you do this form of intentional self-sabotage?

Well, I’ve mentioned in the past that if you stick with good nutritional habits for a couple of weeks, your palate will begin to change. The sweet, salty or starchy foods you used to crave not only won’t appeal to you anymore, but they won’t even taste good to you anymore!

It’s amazing, but that’s just how the human body works…

I remember when I was a kid, I used to eat a sleeve of soft Chips Ahoy cookies with a tall glass of fat-free milk almost every night. When I began implementing the nutritional philosophy I now follow and teach , I did an experiment a couple of months in where I revisited this snack that used to taste amazing and make me feel happy before going to bed.

The result?

My stomach started bothering me almost immediately, I got dry mouth and quickly became dehydrated, and I woke up the next morning feeling like I drank half a bottle of tequila. I can assure you, I was NOT happy! It was nuts!!

The hard part is getting to the point where you not only no longer desire those foods, but can’t physically process them. After a few days of adopting a healthy nutritional philosophy, you’ll begin to really crave the sweet, starchy foods that got you into this predicament in the first place.

At times, it will feel like you won’t be able to function if you don’t simply indulge…

It’s very similar to an alcoholic or a drug addict weaning themselves off of their drug of choice cold turkey. It may be OK for a day or two (depending on the severity of their addiction), but they’ll begin to experience some really intense withdrawal symptoms shortly thereafter…

These symptoms include, but are not limited to: Headaches. Irritability. Nearly irresistible cravings. Sometimes sweats and shakes. It’s a rough thing to go through, but once you get past this period, your journey becomes that much easier!

Did you know that sugar is eight times MORE addictive than cocaine? It may not have the same negative short-term health effects as cocaine does, but over time, not only will regular excess sugar consumption lead to fat storage, it will also lead to insulin resistance, which can lead to Type-2 Diabetes, which then opens up the floodgates for a myriad of life-threatening health issues.

Sadly, there’s no better way to give up sugar than to go cold turkey. There are substitutes you can use, like organic stevia leaf extract powder, but while the sweetness may be similar, it won’t elicit the same neurological response (and subsequent dopamine release) as sugar does.

In order to get 100% on track, you MUST treat your addiction to sugar, starch or processed foods as just that — An addiction! Don’t treat it any differently than an alcoholic or a drug addict would treat their’s. You MUST first accept that you have an addiction, and that in order to lose weight FOR GOOD and simultaneously improve your health, you MUST eliminate these poor food choices from your diet.

When withdrawal symptoms hit, you’re going to want to jump at the chance to ‘indulge’ in your vice once again. ‘Maybe tomorrow!,’ you’ll say to yourself… But then, tomorrow comes, and the cycle just repeats itself…

At the end of the day, PERMANENT health and weight loss are things you have to truly want for yourself. A lot of people talk the talk, but most do NOT walk the walk! They’ll realize just how hard it is to overcome excess sugar, excess starch, or excess processed foods, will make up an excuse like ‘I have to live a little, right?!,’ and will just give up before seeing the struggle through.

In order to see TRUE success on your permanent weight loss journey, you just have to tough it out. It’s that simple! I never said easy, but it’s simple!

Until tomorrow.

Sincerely,
