The final countdown, just one more day left until half term kicks in 😩. If your anything like me the cold sweats and panic will have started to slowly creep in about entertaining the terrors for the duration. So I thought I’d share some quick ideas to help.

So come rain or shine I’ve come up with 5 ideas for both eventualities that can help put smiles on everyones faces:

Everybody loves the sunshine! ☀️

1.Barleylands Now Barleylands is a firm favourite in our household, it has a great variety of activities and the entry cost doesn’t leave me feeling totally fleeced. Over half term your little ones can become Farmers and drive a mini landrover over a special off road course, feed lambs and ride a tractor.

2.Hanningfield Reservoir All ages are covered here with activities galore from pond dipping, hedgehog club, young adventurers to their exciting Wild Evening Out learning about nocturnal animals. But it’s their Dinosaur Family Trail that really excites me. Info on all these events can be found here.

3. Sky Kids half term At Royal Gunpowder Mills in Waltham Abby from aged 3 kids can enter into the Sky Academy and learn the finer art of espionage. The will come back better than 007 and exhausted from their many secret missions and challenges.

4.Essex Fire Museum If your children are Fire Engine Mad on Wednesday The Fire Museum in Greys have a family fun day for one day only. If your over three it’s just £3 for lots of fun activities including crafts, water squirting and a museum trail.

5.Southbank Slightly further afield the Southbank Centre is always a safe bet. They have sun and rain covered with great events, an ABBA exhibition and pop up food stalls. As of this weekend their interactive fountain and beach made an appearance so make sure you bring a swimsuit and maybe even a bucket and spade.

Rain rain go away! 🌧

1. Brentwood Library Fancy getting a little messy? At Brentwood Library on Thursday they have an Arts and Craft session, get stuck in making messy sculptures and finish off with singing and rhymes.

2. Chicken & Frog For all Chicken & Frog events you need to get in quick their Tiger who came to tea event is already sold out but they still have an Elmer Day on Thursday with an Elmer rhythm and rhyme themed session.

3.Chelmsford Museum The Bee’s are back in Chelmsford at the Show Me The Honey exhibition. They have range of unbeelievable children’s activities such as honey tasting, arts and crafts and doing the waggle dance!

4.Hyde Hall Wellies at the ready for events over at Hyde Hall. It’s a mix of indoor and outdoor fun and have great workshops throughout the week from interactive storytelling, veg olympics, sow and grow workshops inspiring a whole new generation of gardeners.

5.Horniman Museum Get in the car or on the train for art crazy free activities over at the Horniman. It’s all about bee’s again making flying bee headresses and also bee toys. If that’s not enough their award winning exhibition is still running, The Rainbow Revealed, which explores the endless ways in which colour shapes our world.

I hope these ideas helped and I’d love to hear about what you’ve got planned, just tag me or #getmamaout on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook to share any great places or activities you love. Fingers crossed for great weather and I hope your half terms are as stress free as possible! ☀️👧👶🌈🍦✌⚡️😘❤️
