We’re proud to release one of the biggest updates to Scatter. Read on to see what we’ve added or head straight over to our github release page.

Token Exchange and an Update to Send

One of most exciting from among the new features is our built-in token exchange. You now have the option to move funds seamlessly from one type of token to another. For inter-chain exchanges, such as ETH to BTC, we are using an external service that takes a nominal fee. Atomic swaps, however, are totally free, making your tokens within a blockchain completely liquid. Want to exchange your DICE for EOS? No problem… and no fee!

While we were at it, we also took another look at the Send Tokens feature set and revamped it to be in line with our solution for Token Exchange. We think it is a marked improvement.

Token Panel

Another feature that we know you all have been clamoring for is an easy way to manage your assets intelligently. We’ve added a fantastic graph and token overview that let you better understand which tokens are worth HODLing and which are just shitcoins.

How cool is that?

Visual Updates and a Note on Accessibility

You’ll of course notice that the light blue is gone in favor of a crisp, sombre gray. A user who is visually impaired explained to us the importance of deep contrasts and colors that invert to something legible. Accessibility is important to us at Scatter. Thus, we strive to ensure that all our users can access the blockchains they want to.

Much More!

  • Internal Histories were added so that you can now track what goes in, what was exchanged, and so forth.
  • EOS accounts are now created using Smart Contracts.

Bugfixes

  • Fixed QR saving for MacOS
  • Fixed ledger sending for Ethereum
  • Removed “export” button for ledger keys
  • Added a way to unset re-proxy without removing proxy vote
  • Fixed issue with windows start-bar pinning causing crashing
  • Fixed issue with lingering appkeys from unused dapps
  • Fixed issue with closing PIN popup
  • Fixed issues with removed translations generating the message, “TRANSLATED,” instead of defaulting to the English translation.
  • Fixed issue with loading balances on some chains
  • Changed fiat currencies to 4 decimals instead of 2 for token-rate calculations to support lower-price tokens.
  • Fixed issue with “Update Needed” button in settings.

Security Upgrades

  • API is now validated using keypairs to ensure all API data received is from the real Scatter API.
  • Seeds were moved off of the renderer process into the base process to further decouple scopes.

Up Next, and a Note about Release Cycles

We’re focusing on releasing RIDL next (if you haven’t donated to the project, now is the time!). In the hopes that we’ll be able to maintain a clean, usable codebase, we have decided that every third release will not add any new features; rather, it only will squash bugs and do clean up. While this means fewer new features for your guys in the short term, in the long run you’ll have a far better product in your hands, as we will fully deal with future challenges.
