5 Alternative Visa options to help Indians work, get residency in the US

After Donald Trump became the President of the United States, Indians and residents of other countries have not been feeling too safe as far as their jobs and residency status are concerned. The H1B visa fiasco has been taken the world of the Indians living in the United States by storm.

However, instead of sweating too much, check out these five visa options that will not only help outsiders get work in the United States but it will also help them get a Green Card.

EB5 visa: Under the EB5 visa, entrepreneurs along with their wives and children who are not married can apply for a Green Card if they make an investment of ($500,000 in a targeted employment area or $1,000,000 in any other area) in a commercial Enterprise in the US. They can also apply for a Green Card if they have a plan for preserving or creating about 10 full time jobs which are permanent for workers in the US who are qualified. If you apply for the EB5 visa under these circumstances, getting a Green Card is possible in less than 2 years and like H1B, L1B or the EB2 or EB3 visa which can take even around 10 years.

L1A visa: Under the L1A visa, companies can transfer the employees from a certain country to the United States for developing operations in the same by either opening an affiliate office, a subsidiary or a new branch. These visas are only for transfers at managerial and executive level. People who have an L1A Visa are eligible to file for a Green Card under the EB1C category and usually get the green card in around a year.

L1B visa: For people who have specialised knowledge in some field, the L1B visa is their best bet to get a Green Card. L1B visa holders also have to apply for a labour certification. In this process, the employer of that certain company has to provide the government with the proof that no such US worker exists who is qualified enough to fill that particular employee’s position. However ,this category takes about a few years for the green card to be processed since it is filed under EB2.

O1 visa: This visa is for people who have extraordinary abilities in the field of athletics, arts, business, education, sciences, or for somebody who has displayed extraordinary performance in the field of television or motion picture and is recognized nationally as well as internationally.

E2 visa after changing nationality: The United States has a Treaty of Commerce and navigation with a few countries where the citizen of that particular country is allowed to enter the United States when a substantial amount of capital is being invested in a US business. Under this E2 visa, foreign nationals can establish businesses in the United States.

Both India and China do not happen to be a Treaty country. Thus, several people change their nationality as Australians, Canadians and even as Grenadines so that they can qualify.
