Foreign Language Advantage in the job market

Learning a Foreign Language not only boosts confidence, but also memory and makes one sharp minded.

According to a placement official from India's Delhi University (DU), “Knowing at least 1 foreign language [apart from English] has become necessary in the globalised world of today”. Which is why there is no dearth of language courses being offered at the university. Students applying to DU for admissions for the upcoming session have plentiful options to opt for a foreign language — a reason for many students to migrate to Delhi for their higher studies.

A professor from East Asian Studies Department recently said that there has been an escalating demand for foreign languages in the market today due to the presence of various MNCs (coming to the university for recruitments) and so, many students are opting for foreign language courses. A foreign language not only provides an edge to a candidate over others when it comes to shortlisting a profile for interviews but also shows greater confidence and ease for the candidates at the time of interviews (as the candidate generally is well-informed about the culture of the country which helps him in clearing interviews easily).

Foreign language certificates also provide candidates with numerous career options, chiefly in Hospitality, Public Relations and Communications, to name a few. Knowing a Foreign language also provides a head-start when it comes to jobs in the Tourism Industry in India, as the footfall of tourists has been rising day by day more specifically, because of Ayurveda and Naturopathy practices performed in India.
