Stretch is great for all the big topics of family life

What is a Topic?

You’ve probably used hashtags in Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

#

Hashtags provide a great way to find content on a topic. Stretch uses the same powerful tool. We call them Topics.

Why use Topics?

  1. Allows you to group related content.
  2. Streamlines creating new content by automatically copying permissions, and the people tagged.
  3. Gives you a place to chat about that topic.
  4. Provides an organized way to remember major milestones.

What are some examples?

Sports

Sports seasons churn up a myriad of content like contacts (coaches, other players), events, photos, files (health forms), lists (equipment, drills), notes, and even costs.

Health

Major or minor health conditions. Appointments, medications, allergies, notes, medical contacts, files (blood tests), and even costs. Ever wondered how much your broken foot costs?

School

School years create lots of content. Important events, contacts (teachers, parents, friends), notes, lists, photos, files. There’s never been a better way to get all that information organized.

Music, Dance, the Arts!

Ever tried to keep track of a few years of guitar lessons? Contacts, events, photos, notes, lists, so much valuable information!

Fitness

Finally revving up for that Ironman? Keep track of health metrics, contacts (trainers, friends), notes, lists, race dates, photos.

Trips

Have you ever found managing the vacation is more stress than you thought? With Stretch you can keep all your travel plans together. Events, contacts, tickets, photos, lists. Afterwards you can scan through all your Trip topics for a nice and easy trip down memory lane!

How to create topics

  1. Switch to the Topics feature

2. Tap the +, bottom right.

3. Add your topic. Keep the title brief. Be sure to tag the right person (or people). Select the right label, e.g., Health.

Important: Privacy Matters

One of the most powerful things about Stretch is the ability to select a specific list of people who are allowed to see each item. In this example, we’ve decided Joey doesn’t need to view this information.

How do I get started?

Think of something you are working on, or information that you need to organize better. Or just take a look at your inbox.

I just got an email about a class camping trip. This topic has an event, a packing list, some instructions (which I put in notes), some forms (saved in Files), and some logistical info, carpooling etc.

All of these items can be distributed to my family, caregivers and/or kids so they can work on the details themselves. They can get ready, work on the lists, fill out the forms, and coordinate with friends.

Camping Trip email >> Stretch Topic

  1. Create the topic.
  2. Creat the 2-day event
  3. Create the emergency contact.
  4. Create the packing list.
  5. Attach the medication release (file).
  6. Add a note with final instructions.

Voila! Five minutes later, everyone is notified and you’re back in your flow, enjoying the fall weather :)

How Linking Works

When you add things to a #Topic, they are linked. This covers all the different content types: events, posts, notes, photos, files, etc.

To see what’s linked to your topic, just click on the little chain symbol, bottom right. If there are linked items, there will be a blue dot.

Note: The display is condensed. So look for the count in parentheses. For example, here there are (4) linked contacts, (7) linked events, and (1) linked checklist, etc. So click on the linked items line to reveal all of the content.

I hope you enjoy using Topics.
