Day Zero will be a leveller of all people in Cape Town. Young, old, poor, wealthy, previously advantaged or disadvantaged, will all be faced with the same problem…

As a social anthropologist and strategist, George looks for trends and patterns to find the root of the issue — most often, this has not to do with the cause of the problem, but rather with how it’s been managed.

One of key problems in the water management situation in Cape Town, is that there is an ego-driven bureaucracy which is not very open to change. On the other hand, part of the problem is that we as citizens do not take ownership and expect the government to solve all our problems. This is not possible! And this is true of any organisation; not just government.

Any change process needs 4 steps to be actioned and it needs to be coordinated… George calls this “Democracy 4.0”!
