If you like writing about chess, then “Getting Into Chess” is the publication for you!

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a Grandmaster or you started playing yesterday — if you’ve got something interesting to say, then we want to hear it.

What We’re Looking For

Anything related to chess is fair game. This includes: strategy discussions, puzzles and tactics analysis, tournament recaps, player profiles and interviews, personal essays, guides, book/movie reviews, and anything else chess-related.

All submissions must be your original work. We have absolutely zero tolerance for plagiarism. In addition:

  • All submissions must follow Medium’s curation guidelines.
  • You must proofread your article before submitting. Of course, everyone makes an occasional typo or two. But, if your post is riddled with mistakes, we will reject it.
  • We may make minor proofreading edits before publication.
  • Please do not submit more than one article per day.
  • We do not pay for submissions. Instead, we encourage you to enroll in Medium’s partner program, which lets you earn revenue for your story directly through Medium.
  • You retain all rights to everything submitted to and published in “Getting Into Chess.” As a courtesy though, we’d prefer you not to remove articles from the publication once they are published.

How to Submit

If you’re interested in writing for us, just leave a response on this article.

Once we’ve added you as a writer, you can submit through the page in which you’ve written your story:

  • Click the ellipses in the top right.
  • Select “add to publication” and choose “Getting Into Chess.”
  • Press the green button which says “Submit.”
  • Choose five tags, and double check that your image, title, and subtitle are correct.
  • Press the green button which says “Submit to publication.”
  • Wait patiently.

We’ll try our best to get to all submissions within 72 hours. You will receive an email from Medium if your submission is accepted and published.

If we decide not to publish your submission, we’ll leave a short note to let you know so that you can submit it elsewhere.

Thank you for reading these guidelines! If you have any questions, please ask. We hope you’ll join us as our newest writer!
