When it comes to chess, there is so much to learn. With the amazing technology available, there’s a wealth of resources to help. Checkmate in one move is featured in the first of NM Robert Ramirez’s Level Two free lessons.

So I decided to look for apps to provide me opportunities to practice identifying positions where it’s possible to put my opponent in checkmate with one move. An app had to have these features or I’d delete it immediately:

  1. Indicate whether it’s White or Black to move.
  2. Provide a hint
  3. Have decent graphics
  4. Be available for both Apple and Android

What I most appreciate in ChessVis is the ability to specify the difficulty of the puzzle. Just select a lower chess rating in the options which ranges from 600 to 2800.
