Should I stay a chess-engine virgin? I’m a novice wondering how to analyze my games. I have no clue how to determine where my blunders happened or what key moments were in the game. I suspect that analysis tools on chess.com and Lichess based on engines are only useful to intermediate players.

Most chess personalities online give detailed critiques about using engines while briefly acknowledging their usefulness? Does any chess streamer/blogger explain how a novice can use a chess engine well?

How can a novice who has a limited exposure to tactics, no grasp of strategy or plans, and zero calculation skill analyze her games?

If I knew the positions where I’d blundered, I could set up the position over the board and consider alternative moves. I’d pay little to the engine’s suggestion since I probably wouldn’t grasp the strategy behind it.

I didn’t stay a chess engine virgin. Here’s why.
