Birth of Web3 Community
The term “Community” has become a catchphrase that refers to everything from online discussion forums, to virtual world gatherings, and people who work together to do something. During the COVID-19 pandemic, 63 countries around the world went into lockdown. People everywhere became lonely. They felt isolated and trapped in their homes. Students’ learning environments changed dramatically. 47 percent of the world’s student population stayed home, learned from an electronic device (e.g., computer, tablet, mobile phone, TV). They socialized and entertained themselves using electronic devices too. In general, people spent over a year trapped in their houses with nowhere to go. For those who had to leave their homes for work, emergencies, or who ignored the lockdowns, the most social areas were the markets.
In fact, people’s heavy reliance on cyber software for almost everything fed Web3 development. It was a powerful stimulus that directed large amounts of attention, money, and creativity towards the nascent technology. Most importantly, it spurred the development of different kinds of cyber communities. It literally created the concept of a Web3 Community.

Communities formed around similar interests (e.g., cryptocurrency, gaming, stock trading), problems (e.g., divorce, familial dysfunction, adultery), and interpersonal challenges (e.g., autism, introversion, insecurities). In other words, people created communities around their cyber interests and desire for social interaction, support, and need for the familiar.
Web3 is the next stage of evolution of the Internet. It gives users control of their data and digital identity. This more secure and private version of the Internet allows users to interact with each other without intermediaries. It is a new world created and financed by crypto projects built on blockchains, decentralized digital structures in crypto space.
