The single best way to improve the tech in your business is to have a plan.

These 4 letters P — L — A and N are the key to your success in any endeavor.

I understand that we’re all moving a million miles an hour.

I understand that you have a dozen things on your plate.

But that doesn’t change the fact that the single biggest challenge small businesses have with their tech is that — they operate without a plan.

You could call it whack-a-mole tech.

Oh there’s a problem let’s fix it.

But when you’re whacking mole after mole.

Putting out fire after fire.

You’re not really moving forward.

You’re just surviving until the next day.

Now I’m not saying that you have to have some grand elaborate plan to take over the world with your tech.

But if that’s your thing.

I’d be happy to help.

So how do you move away from the whack-a-mole-tech approach?

Here’s a thought.

Make the commitment to implement a life cycle replacement plan and a one page tech road map.

So what does that look like?

A life cycle replacement plan is a worksheet that shows all of your equipment that needs to be replaced in the next 12 months.

This helps you to budget replacement costs against a schedule.

The next piece is a one page tech road map.

It’s a one page document that details what technology your business should be moving towards.

It’s a conversation and planning piece that once again…

Helps you to budget costs against a schedule.

Getting your tech right is about having a plan.

Not a big plan.

But a plan.

Stop playing whack-a-mole with your with the tech in your business.

You’ll be better off for it.
