Wrangling Macs and Mac Management

Ever since the Mac was released way back when it has symbolized rebellion from traditional IT.

Not to say that Macs can’t or shouldn’t be managed by an IT department.

It’s just that most people that use Macs don’t think they should be managed

But just like PCs.

Yes, I just said that.

Macs need to be updated on a regular consistent basis.

Macs need to have standardized settings to provide optimum performance and security.

And Macs need maintenance on a regular basis to clean out the crusty ass spiders.

Even so, people resist.

The other day I was talking with a business that’s made up primarily of creatives.

And as usual, everyone wants to self manage their Mac.

They are all self-proclaimed expert’s.

They don’t feel they need anyone’s help in managing their Macs.

But here’s the thing, most of their Macs are not patched.

There are security vulnerabilities.

And there are configuration inconsistencies that to the business owner…

Are liabilities.

Yes, in some people’s minds Macs are still the wild west.

But when you look at companies like Addigy, JumpCloud, JAMF and others.

You will come to understand that Macs are indeed being managed on a global scale.

And actually, not only Macs — but other Apple products as well.

You see. When you do Apple at scale you need a tool set to manage them.

1 Mac, 2 Macs, 3 Macs and you’re fine.

But if your business has any scale.

Think 5 Macs plus.

You should really think about wrangling your Macs.
