’Twas the night of the 59th annual Grammy Awards, and music royalty stepped out of stretch limos bedecked in class and dazzle. Well, almost everyone. There were definitely some (ahem) statement pieces on the carpet.

Does anyone know who these people are? Me neither. Anyway, moving on.

During the show, the dress code was apparently pants-optional among the fellas. When Twenty One Pilots snagged the award for Best Pop Duo, they accepted it like this.

Our energetic host James Corden followed suit (or is it suit-less?).

But let’s get down to it. The hyper-buzz of the 2017 Grammys goes to Adele and Beyoncé. We were all on the edge of our seats during the announcement of Album of the Year, and when it went to Adele’s 25, Adele freaked. Her voice was so unabashedly filled with emotion during her acceptance speech, it quavered its way up and down three octaves as she struggled to get words out.

Actually, it was hardly an acceptance speech at all — up on the podium, Adele shocked all onlookers by dedicating the award to Beyoncé.

She added, “I’m very humbled and I’m very grateful and gracious, but my artist of my life is Beyoncé. This album you made, the Lemonade album, is so monumental.” Beyoncé looked beyond touched by this unparalleled shout-out from her fellow diva.

Adele alluded to the controversy that has plagued the Grammys for years — namely, that groundbreaking black artists are almost never given due credit for their accomplishments during award season (c.f. Beck’s 2015 win of Album of the Year over Beyoncé despite, you know, being boring).

Bey certainly had no problem asserting her own queendom, as she floated onstage for her performance wearing THE ACTUAL SUN.

Other noteworthy performances included Bruno Mars soaked in purple light, in tribute to Prince.

And Lady Gaga set the stage aflame, screaming along with Metallica.

Guess who picked up five Grammy awards, early on in the show?

DAMN STRAIGHT. You are still alive and well in our hearts, Lord Stardust.

Last night was one of glamor and glory, some tasty drama, but mostly, solid cred to our favorite, well-deserving performers of the year.
