Well, as promised, day two of Evo 2017 arrived and I was there to bring you all the finer details from Las Vegas’ hottest gaming event via Snapchat Spectacles.

And it all started with a grand entrance…

HUZZAH!

Oh, uh…let’s try that again.

That’s more like it.

The second day of Evo looked very similar to day one in that I spent a lot of time looking at people’s backs…

Saw some elaborate cosplay…

And browsed the same merchandise I contemplated purchasing 24 hours earlier.

OFURwatch or Su-PURR Smash Cats… I can’t decide

With that said, there was a different energy and more of a crowd drawn to the big screens on the outskirts of the event, as if something big was going on.

Oh, that’s right — the tournament pools!

While I was thrilled to watch players like Honeybee expertly master The Flash’s move set to beat up on Forever King…

Back in my day, that was considered a “cheap move!”

Or enjoy Enigma wailing on Mt Takao…

There was one last convention-floor distraction I needed to get out of the way — a sort of “Developer’s Alley.”

While I visited it briefly yesterday, I was in too much of a sensory overload to appreciate some of the games being shown off. Some of which you can bet I’ll be showcasing in the next few days.

Coffence, a twin-stick fighter where a coffee cup is your greatest weapon, may have been among the quirkiest games shown…

Fighting with coffee cups. In space. Sure, why not?

But it was Guts that really grabbed my attention with its playfully bloody art style and focus on limb-dismemberment.

Even Gang Beasts had my side splitting as two players struggled to throw one another into a pit of fire.

I’d also be remiss if I didn’t at least mention the showings of Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy:

And Pokken Tournament DX and its perfectly straight line of demo units.

OK, OK, back to the tournament! Today was a big day for the Super Smash Bros. Melee, Injustice 2, The King of Fighters XIV, and Guilty Gear Xrd Rev pools. After a tough two days of sweaty palms and aching fingers, these titles found their victors!

After a final one-sided fight, Dragon smacked down the previously victorious Honeybee in Injustice 2.

For Guilty Gear, it was a tense match-up between OMITO and T5M7 before the former took the title in a close finish.

King of Fighters champion E.T. threw competitor Xiaohai into a crushing defeat.

Literally threw him!

Tomorrow will no doubt see many tense match-ups as potential champions like Itabashi Zangief, Tokido, Dabuz, Nairo, Anakin, and JEOndding vie for the title in Tekken 7, Super Smash Bros. Wii U, Street Fighter V, BlazBlue: Central Fiction, and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Stay tuned…
