‘Injustice 2’ Character Wish List

On April 28th, NetherRealm will release the final set of Injustice 2 characters and we would be remiss if we didn’t throw a few hopefuls into the hat! Scouting through the veritable who’s-who of villains, heroes, and anti-heroes in the DC universe, we’ve compiled six of our top choices with which to expand the Injustice universe.

Ra’s al Ghul

If there’s one consistent element among the many iterations of Ra’s al Ghul, it’s that the super-villain proves to be a formidable foe for the Dark Knight. Quick with a scimitar, a master of many forms of martial arts, and not one to let death get in his way, Ra’s would unquestionably fit well into the Injustice universe.

His fighting style could focus on quick-footed, weapons-based combat, complete with smoke pellets and shuriken to mimic some of Batman’s advantages.

We could see the ancient mastermind opposing Batman’s insurgency, though his arrogance would probably make him a rogue agent simply looking to square off with Batsy to continue their rivalry.

Metallo

Recent incarnations of Metallo may not be nearly as cool as his older designs, but NetherRealm’s flair for the outlandish could fix that in Injustice 2. This half-man/half-machine villain is fueled by kryptonite, a built-in plot device that gives him an edge over the Man of Steel and Supergirl.

Using his powerful core, Metallo would focus on a mix of cybernetic attacks and brute strength to support Gorilla Grodd and “The Society.” Contenders in fighting games typically have a counterpart, and Metallo would match up perfectly with Cyborg.

Besides, anyone who has the cojones to stand up to Superman and hold him like a punk deserves a spot in the world of Injustice.

Two-Face

A Batman classic, Two-Face had a quick guest-spot in Gods Among Us in the Arkham Asylum/Joker’s Asylum stage. Though the law-breaking, duplicitous former district attorney isn’t known for his hand-to-hand combat prowess — unless Injustice follows The Batman: Face to Face story-arc — Two-Face was trained by Deathstroke in firearms handling and is a known marksman.

Wait, who gave the insane inmates a TV? (source)

We think it’d be more than just a little fun to combine basic fisticuffs with a Tommy gun, but where do you stand? Does Two-Face have a place in the forefront of the Injustice series?

Maybe the coin should decide!

Bizarro

For Gods Among Us, Superman was already on the wrong side of justice, so rather than rehash an evil Man of Steel, why not bring in the next best thing — Bizarro! As the anti-Superman, the ghastly clone’s abilities are reversed, including freeze vision, vacuum breath, and flame breath.

Bizarro! Complete with “awkward run” animation! (source)

Bizarro’s fighting style probably wouldn’t be a surprise, mimicking the heavy punches and swift moves of Superman. In fact, the two would be similar enough that Bizarro could even be a DLC alternate skin for the former High Councilor in the future.

But we’re pulling for a full-fledged character built into the story.

King Shark

There are plenty of Batman super-villains already in Injustice, so rather than feature the brute strength and towering gate of Killer Croc, NetherRealm should introduce the similar Flash villain, King Shark. Just as the name implies, King Shark is a human/shark hybrid that combines the ferocity and swiftness of a shark with the intelligence of man. Without a doubt, Flash’s oceanic predator would easily fit in with Injustice 2’s heavy-hitters.

His thick hide and quick reflexes have bested The Flash in the past, but we’d be more interested in seeing the bipedal shark-man square off against Aquaman.

Imagine the brutal super move he’d have!

John Constantine

Oh, we can have a telepathic gorilla super-villain but a man of the supernatural is completely out of the question? It’s actually not that farfetched of an idea, especially considering Constantine sided with the insurgency in the Injustice Year Three comic.

We’d love to see some separation from the rogue’s gallery of super-villains and super-powered heroes for a character that looks underwhelming but comes packed with his own bag of tricks. A master of sorcery, the demon-killing con man is skillful in necromancy, illusion magic, and spells and is known for using magical artifacts in battle.

There’s also a lot of fun to be had with the Hellblazer’s demonic, sentient trench coat.

Alfred Pennyworth

Before you scoff, know this — Alfred actually donned the Bat suit before and mostly proved his worth as the Caped Crusader. Truthfully, though, we’re more interested in seeing a recreation of the Batman: Arkham Knight “Be the Butler” mod, where Alfred enters the fray all gussied up.

The difference between you and Alfred is that he makes this look good. (source)

Alright, alright. We don’t actually think NetherRealm will take us up on our Pennyworth suggestion, but we can dream, right?
