Novice GIF Guide to the GLOO Cannon in ‘Prey’
The highly anticipated Prey (PC, PS4, Xbox1) from Bethesda and Arkane Studios was finally released on Friday after years of build-up dating back to 2013. The game has been billed by fans as a spiritual successor to sci-fi, open-world, systems-based games such as System Shock 2 and Deus Ex. Critics have also noted that it heavily borrows game mechanics from other popular franchises such as Bioshock and Dishonored. Sounds like you’ve played this game before? There is something to be said about how Arkane Austin is able to combine all these elements with sharp visuals and an absolutely stellar synth-heavy soundtrack to produce a truly creepy atmosphere for players to explore.
The most interesting wrinkle provided in the early hours of gameplay is a new weapon called the GLOO Cannon.
In addition to slowing down Typhon (shapeshifting alien life form that escaped human imprisonment) aboard the international space station where most of the game’s action takes place, the GLOO Cannon also supplies intuitive solutions to environmental puzzles the player encounters. It is unlike typical weapons generally found in an FPS. Here’s how we’ve used the GLOO Cannon so far:
1. Taking out generic Mimic enemies.
2. Taking out the much tougher Phantom enemies.
3. Putting out fires on the space station.
4. Prevent yourself from getting electrocuted.
5. Make ladders and walkways to reach otherwise unreachable areas.
Let us know if you have found any other ways to use the GLOO Cannon!
