After a long dry spell of skits-gone-viral, Saturday Night Live is now boasting its highest ratings in over 20 years — and it’s pretty obvious as to why. With Alec Baldwin hosting its latest episode, SNL had a blast commentating the current political circus.

Alec Baldwin gave a long, priceless monologue about his 17th hosting of SNL, and at least he’s humble about it.

The show kicked off with a cold open of Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer, belligerently blasting the press, denying hard facts, and using dolls to demonstrate how airport security will go down under the Trump administration.

And then, uh oh — Moana shows up for her security screening…

SMH. Too soon? Or just too real? Either way, still freaking hilarious.

Then, in what will likely be a legendary SNL skit, Kellyanne Conway gets denied air time and goes full batshit psycho on Jake Tapper, setting the scene for a psychological thriller that evokes flashbacks to Fatal Attraction.

Of course, it wouldn’t be an early-2017 episode of Saturday Night Live without a spirited Trump impression from our gracious host. These impersonations are so spot on, I’m crying.

The setting is The People’s Court, and Trump is being tried for the travel ban he’s been so desperately trying to impose on all those refugees and “bad hombres.”

In these times, it’s no shock that SNL is predominantly political, but Ed Sheeran broke it down for us with some low-key repose, and definitely performed from the heart.

And then there’s your everyday couple that experiments with S&M after watching the latest in 50 Shades — with, at best, questionable results for one party involved.

SNL also took the opportunity to hail Queen B and her belly full of twins. We even get a sneak preview into her super cozy womb.

Keep it up, Saturday night. The bar is high. We expect great things.
