A Partial Translation of the Libyan Red Crescent Annual Report From 2014

This post is a piece of evidence in our open investigation into the disappearance of a group of at least 243 refugees in 2014.

We’ve taken some parts of a Red Crescent report from 2014 that seem relevant to our investigation and translated them from Arabic. Here’s what they say. Please examine the original document for more.

Report of July 7, 2014 (Page 134)

During the month of Ramadhan, the Body Management team (Tripoli bureau) has recovered bodies of illegal immigrants on the shores of Tajoura Camp. Bodies were transported by the LRC to the Tripoli medical center.

Report of July 11, 2014 (Page 135)

On the early morning of Friday, July 11, the Libyan Red Crescent (Tripoli bureau) received a call from the head of the municipal council informing them about the presence of some illegal immigrants’ bodies washing ashore. The bodies were suspected to belong to the same illegal immigrants whose boat has sank and whose bodies were recovered on July 7, 2014. Two bodies were recovered by the LRC volunteer’s team on the shores of Masyef Tajoura and another body was recovered on the Andalus beach. The three Bodies were transported to the Tripoli medical center by the Libyan Red Crescent (Tripoli bureau).

Report of August 3, 2014 (Page 157)

Upon receiving a call from Tajoura police office, LRC body management team recovers, for the third time, two bodies of illegal immigrants whose boat sank close to the Libyan shores. Bodies of the immigrants were taken to the Tripoli medical center.

Report of August 26, 2014 (page 230)

Eight bodies of illegal immigrants (including one woman and 6 men) were recovered by the Libyan Red Crescent on the shores of Ghout Rommen in Tajoura. The bodies were later transported to the morgue of Tripoli medical center.

Report of August 28, 2014 (Page 237)

Eight bodies of illegal immigrants were recovered on the shores of Tajoura. That was after LRC received a call from the Tajoura police office. The bodies were later transported to the morgue of Zaouia hospital.
