In Part 1 of this redesign work, I wrote about creating a brand new web experience for the Silverbird Cinema in Accra.

In Part 2, we’ll talk about creating a mobile experience which similarily reflects the web experience.

Silverbird Cinema Mobile Experience

An assumption is that the quickest and fastest way someone would want to buy a ticket would be online. Data does show that most people, especially in Ghana, are relying more on mobile phones for their day to day activities.

A mobile ticket buying experience isn’t too far fetched and can help users with purchasing movie tickets without using a desktop.

Silverbird Cinema Mobile App

Login (As Guest)

Usually, mobile apps want you to create an account before you sign-up and login to use services. In case, I decided to add a “Continue As Guest” button for people who want to immediately check out movies which are showing and then proceed to buy a ticket.

Now Playing

After a user logs in, they get a display of what movies are showing and have the option to select a movie. Selecting a movie brings up the showtimes, movie cast and even a trailer to preview what the movie is about.

An example below of John Wick 3

Payment Methods

It’s no secret that for most Ghanaian users, their preferred mode of payment is either cash or mobile money with the use of credit cards lagging behind.

For payment options in the mobile experience, payment methods include Mobile Money, Cash, and Credit Card.

For cash payments, a user would be “reserving” a ticket. When the user gets to the cinema, they would show off a receipt number or QR code to be scanned to confirm ticket purchase.

With mobile money, it would require the user to enter their mobile money and begin the process of using their USSD to purchase the ticket.

With a credit card purchase, the process would be a bit smoother with the user entering their credit card details and processing the payment and getting their ticket digitally on their phone.

So, that’s the mobile experience for the Silverbird Mobile App. You can play with the interactive prototype here.

Tell me what you think about both experiences, Web (Part 1) and Mobile, for the Silverbird Cinema app. All comments welcome.
