Snapchat Desktop (Work In Progress)
Designing A Snapchat Desktop UI
I’ve been busy dipping into research and data analytics. I haven’t done a lot of visual designs in a couple of months. I feared I would be a bit rusty when trying my hands on something new.
I’ve been playing with Snapchat and trying to figure out what makes this app so loved by teens and millenials*
*(I wrote about here on my tech news website, TechNovaGH)
I spend a lot of time on my laptop and I pick up my phone if I need to. Snaphcat’s rival, Instagram, has a desktop version of its application where you can view Instagram photos on the web.
So where’s Snapchat’s version? I know that most people would use the app for viewing snaps of their friends but what about the heavy desktop users like me?
So I decided to design a simple UI for a Snapchat desktop.

It’s pretty simple. You login from the start page. You’re presented with Snapchat stories and there’s the “Chat” option on the left hand side. You simply click on chat to see your what menu and click on Stories to get your full Story menu.
If you click on one of your contacts, you get one of their snaps.
And that’s it. It’s a work in progress. I might add other options but this is it for now and when it’s done, I’ll add it to my Behance page.
Tell me what you think in the comments.
Thanks for reading!
FYI, if you want to add me on Snapchat, you can scan my Snapcode below. I’m still learning how this app works
