Designing a user interface for Silverbird Cinema

I finally decided to try going back into UX design again. I have been playing around with some concepts but I decided to go full scale with this one.

Today, I’ll be showing off a mobile app concept for Silverbird Cinemas in Ghana. This app is designed to allow users to check for movies which are currently showing at the cinema, as well as view upcoming movies as well as purchase tickets online using their Visa/Mastercard and Mobile Money.

Yes. The Silverbird Cinema app will have a sign up screen. Signing up for an account will allow users to add payment information to their account, get notifications of upcoming movies, special offers and discounts. Users can go through the regular sign up process of having a user name and password or simply sign up with their Facebook or Google Account.

But users can simply skip that whole process and continue as a “Guest”. This allows them to go straight into the app, view current movie showings as well as watch trailers and even purchase tickets.

Silverbird App Homescreen

Firstly, I built two separate home screens. One which has the movies listed horizontally with the movie posters left aligned and the showing times, duration and genre right next to them. The other screen has the full movie posters. I might consider a user option for users to change how they view their home screens.

The navigation has the following tabs: “Now Showing”, “Upcoming Movies”, “Tickets” and “My Account”. The “Now Showing” tab displays movies which are currently showing at the Silverbird Cinemas. Users can select what movies they want to see.

Upcoming Movies show the movies which are coming in the next months. Select an upcoming movie show users the description of the movie as well as a trailer.

My Tickets show movie tickets that the user has purchased which can be shown to workers at the cinema when they go to watch the movie.

My Account contains the user’s information including payment information.

Movie Ticket Online Purchases

When a user selects a movie which is currently showing, they can view the movie trailer, synopsis, run time, show times, rating by movie goers and even the option of purchasing tickets online.

Purchasing Tickets Online

Purchasing movie tickets is a simple process. A user just has to tap the “Buy Ticket” button. On the next screen, they can select the cinema location (Accra Mall or West Hills Mall), select the movie showing time, and the number of tickets they’re purchasing. Depending on the number of tickets selected, the “Price” of the ticket will automatically change.

After selection, the user taps the “Confirm Ticket” button. The user is taken to the next screen where they select their payment method of Mobile Money or Debit/Credit Card.

If the user selects the Debit/Credit Card method, they’re show the credit card details screen where they enter their card details. If they had already added their details from the “Account” tab, they have the option of selecting the saved card and simply entering the CVV number to confirm the purchase.

After that process, they’re shown a confirmation screen where they can see the movie they chose, show time, payment method and price. If satisfied, the user confirms the purchase and the purchased ticket is saved in the “Ticket” tab.

That’s basically it. It’s still a work in progress but I’ll work on the final screens and probably upload to my Behance page.
