loneliness

loneliness, a predator.

even when the world seems fine and dandy,

he lurks in the shadows.

he rips you apart slowly,

each finger dancing in a delicate rhythm.

he gnaws on your bones

sucks your essence out

till you’re a walking shell of emptiness.

it hurts whenever he’s around.

it really does.

everyone feels his presence,

but no one seems to speak.

he cages you in your body,

heavy-set locks in place.

you desperately rattle the bars but it’s no use.

he made sure they were made of steel.

you scream out at the bypassers, but it’s no use.

they see you, but they don’t hear you.
