Movie Spotlight: Thor: Ragnarok looks to be a raging good time

Thor has always gotten the shortest end of the stick out of all of Marvel’s Avengers: his movies often are a step slower, they make a little less than the other’s in the weekend box office, and they seem as if they can be Marvel’s last priority. So when news of Thor: Ragnaraok came out earlier this year, people didn’t have the highest of expectations. But now, after countless trailers and Marvel’s heavy-handed promotion it looks like it’s going to shape out to be one of the year’s best releases.

Thor: Ragnarok takes place on the fictional planet Sakaar. To make things simple, Thor must defeat The Incredible Hulk in a gladiator match so he can get back to Asgard and defend it from destruction at the hands of the new villain Hela. In one of the trailers, she actually stops his signature hammer dead in its tracks, eliciting a look of sheer horror from Thor’s face. Various scenes from the trailers feature doom and destruction on levels that haven’t been seen since the first of the Avengers films. There’s also an element of zaniness as well as general wackiness that permeates the released footage so far and it looks like it will be tons of fun.

Chris Hemsworth returns as Thor (of course) and we’ll get our dosage of Mark Ruffalo’s emotionally vulnerable Hulk along with appearances from Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Tessa Thompson, Jeff Goldblum, Karl Urban, Tom Hiddleston, and much more. Yes, you read that right. Loki is back and more badass than ever. Could there be a potential team up from the two super brothers?

As we anxiously await the November 3 release date, let’s look at the official trailer and some GIFs of some of the footage. Only a few more weeks to wait!
