Naughty or nice, Christmas is a cozy time of year to show some love for your significant other. But every year, the pressure is on to find that perfect gift that’s equal parts thoughtful and useful. Sure, it’s the thought that counts, but why not pick from our Christmas Is for Lovers wish list to find something that both you and your partner will appreciate well after the tree has wilted?

As with any gift-giving occasion, Christmas is about asking for those gifts you not-so-secretly want but would most likely never buy for yourself, as is with the Amazon Echo Show, Google Home Mini, or even dog camera that’ll finally answer the question about what the heck your fur baby does while you’re away all day.

You know you want the latest gear but don’t want to buy it for yourself.

If this is your first holiday as cohabitors or you finally traded your lease for a mortgage, consider a new gadget to turn your house into a smart home. A coffeemaker enabled with Wi-Fi, video doorbell to complete your Nest collection, and automatic vacuum that’ll let you spend less time cleaning and more time bonding will all be delightful additions to the household.

It’s OK to ask for household appliances that’ll make your life easier.

Thinking ahead, if your New Year’s resolution is to entertain more, start with a new but retro record player, video projector for movie nights or watching a big game, and don’t forget a wine of the month to keep your dinner parties interesting.

Bring your entertaining game to the next level.

But once the wrapping paper has been recycled, it’s all about the two of you. The gift of a personal massager is always welcome (and one that you might be on the receiving end of). Get sentimental with a custom map serving tray that shows where you live, where you met, or where you got married (also double duty with that New Year’s resolution!). Or snuggle up with an oversized throw, and buckle down for the rest of the winter.

Thoughtful doesn’t have to mean useless.

No matter what you choose to stuff in the stockings this year, you’re sure start 2018 off with some brownie points.
