Happy woman opening a gift
Get only the gifts you want.

My name is Onyinye and this is how my good friend Preye averted what would have been another Naija wedding horror story.

We all have that one friend that we go to for information about virtually everything current and trendy. Who not only offers a listening ear but proffers a solution to our dilemma. When it comes to issues surrounding gifts and gifting, Preye is that friend. She is my gift plug.

This is the story of how Preye averted my wedding gift drama and how GiftHub saved me from what would have been wedding gift wahala 2.0 because wedding gift wahala 1.0 was my sister’s wedding gift palava.

I remember when my sister Ada was getting married. She was the first in our family to tie the knot. Everyone was excited. Everyone who knew my family wanted to attend the ceremony taking place in Lagos.

So, we set out to print invitations and distribute them the old-fashioned way. Hand to hand. The invitations were met with lots of joy and promise to attend the wedding ceremony. And you know where there is a wedding, there are gifts involved. Ada had started hinting to our mum and dad what she would like, so they could pass it on to relatives who wanted to gift them an item or two for the wedding.

I recall Halima, the wife of uncle Eze asking my mum what gift to get Ada. Mum said, ‘get her a grinding machine’. Ha! Mum should have just said blender. Abeg, who doesn’t know that grinding machine means those industrial ones used to grind pepper and tomatoes in the market? That was what Halima thought. Imagine, the stress she went through to search for the grinding machine, transport it home and wrap it. Just picture the stress and logistics of locating and transporting it to the venue of the wedding.

Now comes the worst part. Ada now has a grinding machine which she does not need, presented to her at the wedding. I could still remember the look of disbelieve on her face. Now she has to take up the burden of getting this white elephant gift to her new home and think of a way to get rid of it! That’s not all. Most of the gifts she got were useless, or she had more than 3 of the same item. Six months after the wedding, she still has those items piled in the corner of her kitchen and the ill-fated grinding machine at the back of the house.

The following year while planning my wedding, I decided to seek advice from my friend Preye. You see, my fiancé and I had decided to request cash gifts instead so we won’t end up like my sister Ada. I asked Preye for her opinion. She told me about GiftHub and how GiftHub can help make my wish come true.

I tried it and was amazed. Using my smartphone I logged onto the website www.gifthub.ng. First, it took less than 5 minutes to register and create a Wishlist, browsed through the gift shop and selected my preferred gift items. Having done that, I shared the invitation link to my Wishlist with my friends and family via Whatsapp and Facebook. The details of my wedding were communicated to my guests in the same invitation thus eliminating the cost of printing the invitation. My guests could then RSVP enabling me to plan for them. My guests were able to save the date and set a reminder for my wedding event on their mobile calendar and get directions via Google Maps to the event venue. There was even an option to stream my event live for those who could not make it.

Get started. Create a Wishlist.

I had insights about guest attendance and contributions to my Wishlist and got notified when each item on my Wishlist was fulfilled in real-time. The crowd-gifting option came in handy as my invitees found it easy to contribute to the more expensive items on my Wishlist. I felt even happier when I started receiving notifications for cash gifts after all my Wishlist items had been fulfilled.

Thanks to Preye and GiftHub, I got exactly what I wanted for my wedding and more. I was also able to convert one of the already fulfilled items on my Wishlist into cash, which was paid directly into my account upon request along with the cash gifts.

For my family and friends, no guesswork, no stress of searching for the right item or how to get to my event. Gifting doesn’t get better than this.

GiftHub is not limited to weddings alone. I will be using GiftHub for all special occasions. Abi, who no like better thing. You should take advantage of this amazing platform to get your preferred gift items gifted to you for your special occasion.
