August is upon us and with 2016 just around the corner I am happy to welcome some new contributors. With them we are on our way to expanding the coverage of gig magazine around the world. We just passed two thousand followers and as awesome as that is it adds a lot of pressure to show more local music scenes.

That is where these folks come in.

First off I want to introduce you to Tim Anderson, gig magazine’s new editor-at-large. Tim has years of experience editing and publishing and I am honored that he agreed to help look over posts. He will also be contributing articles from time to time. If you missed it, in issue #11 Tim reviewed “Every Picture Tells a Story, Baron Wolman, the Rolling Stone Years”.

Secondly in July I met up with the man behind Amongst the Wolves TV, Das Leune. We tossed around ideas about how we can incorporate what he is doing and we came up with gig [+] ATWTV. It will be an ongoing video series of musicians he is covering. In the first of the series, issue #13, he features Coco Columbia playing under a bridge in Portland.

In addition to new contributors I wanted to broaden the type of issues gig magazine put out. My approach for these issues will be ‘spotlights’ on the feature people working behind the music scene. The first of which is issue #12, a ‘venue spotlight’ of Albuquerque’s Tractor Brewing Company.

I have also been in touch with a few other people that are looking to contribute soon. If you would like to contribute create a draft on Medium and share a link to our email address: info@thegigmagazine.com

Thank you,
Justin Thor Simenson
