1. REGARDING DEPLOYMENT

Our Timeline is updated every week and shows the completion of Pods: https://giga-watt.com/promo/timeline

Current deployment list priority:

1. WTT holders batch 1 (90% DONE)

2. WTT holders batch 2 (90% DONE)

3. Non WTT holders with miners batch 1 (December)

4. Non WTT holders with miners batch 2 (December)

5. WTT holders batch 3 (December)

6. WTT holders who bought WTT at Etherdelta (December)

7. Non WTT holders with miners batch 3 (December)

Batch 4 WTT holders will be released once pods are fully completed, expected in December.

2. REGARDING DELAYS

Unfortunately there have been many factors beyond Giga Watt’s control in the past few months. These have included numerous government inspections, delays in the delivery of power equipment and transformers due to recent hurricanes, month long connection delays to electricity pods 3/4/5 by the Grant County PUD (Power Utility Department), delayed delivery of our Alpha miners, building inspectors insisting on UL certified Power Supply Units (PSU) — something that the manufacturer provided PSUs didn’t have, and flow on supply chain problems as a result.

3. REGARDING POWER SUPPLY UNITS (PSUs)

Large portions of miners that were received from Bitmain were missing UL certification. We discontinued our PSU supply from Bitmain for this reason, and ran out of the supply we had inhouse. We are currently awaiting receipt of the next batch of UL certified PSU’s that are expected to arrive during the first week in December. Normally the lead time on getting UL certified PSUs would take around 6–9 months and we did our best to find it faster, which we did via a company in Taiwan who produced UL listed PSUs for us, with initial delivery in smaller batches that have been ongoing.

4. REGARDING PSUs FOR THOSE WHO OPTED FOR DELIVERY OF THEIR MINERS

We can either hold your hardware until we get the PSU’s then ship it out, or ship your hardware to you without the PSU and ship that to you separately when we get it. Contact: shipminer@giga-watt.com

5. REGARDING OUR DEPLOYMENT OF THE PSUs WE HAD IN LIMITED SUPPLY

We had a limited quantity of PSUs left for early deployment. We had to balance the best way to split the resources between our clients who requested shipping, and our clients who were waiting for deployment.

6. WHY HAVE GIGA WATT NOT SPENT MORE RESOURCES BUILDING ALL THE MINING FACILITIES AT ONCE?

With limited resources to build all the pods at once, Giga Watt built the pods with our own allocated funds. Once the pods are built, we can release the tokens, then get the money out of escrow.

7. WHY HAVE YOU NOT COMMUNICATED AVERAGE QUEUE TIMES AND GIVEN MORE DETAILS ON THE STATUS OF FACILITIES AND NUMBER OF PSUs AVAILABLE?

In addition to this information being based on commercial and trade secrets, we are also vigilant in protecting the security of our users and not distributing private information. We also have to be mindful of prioritizing the resources of our team for the most important outcomes. We are not imposing any of these development expenses on users.

8. HOW ARE THE MINING FACILITIES DEPLOYED?

Our facilities are not deployed miner by miner. Once our pods are complete we install PDUs, network cables and gear, and begin to setup the network and firewalls. We then layout all gear and PSU on racks based on a power load balance. Next, we plug in both the network and the power and start setting the miners by batches, and with a fixed list of users assigned to miners. We then direct miners into pools, before deploying the list to the dashboard.

9. WHY CAN’T YOU ISSUE A QUEUE NUMBER TO EACH USER?

Initially the POD design was made to physically fit Antminer S9s only, which take a certain amount of space and draw a certain amount of power. With other products coming to the market later on, the equipment manufactured by Bitmain that essentially takes the same amount of rack space, but does draw less power, would limit us to the space available inside the POD, leaving a decent amount of unused capacity. With that in mind, we have been forced to mix different types of equipment to fulfill the space and create a full power load fed to the POD. With regards to deployment priority between different miners, deployment takes not only power but space. For example, 880 Watts per L3, means that pod can hold around 1020 units but it will withdraw less than 1 MW, even though the whole pod was calculated for 1.5 MW usable capacity. In this example we would have power but lack space. Thus to fulfill the whole capacity of each pod we are mixing different types of equipment to carefully balance the load and utilize all the space and power available.

All devices have unique asset tags that are stringed to device/serial numbers related to the relevant client. We are working on implementing a notification system that will alert via push notifications both the tech team and the client immediately should any issues arise with the equipment such as a downed miner, decrease in Hashrate, significant temperature fluctuations or power draw changes.

10. WHICH ALTCOINS ARE GIGA WATT MINING?

At this time we are only supporting LTC, BTC, ETH, & DASH mining. Currently we are not mining alternative coins at this time. In the future, certain classes of miners will be able to choose which cryptocurrency to mine. The timeframe for this has not yet been determined. Check here to find out which coins you can currently mine with your equipment: https://www.gigawatt.sg/shop/

11. HOW DO POOLS WORK?

With a mining pool, a lot of different people contribute to generating a block, and then the reward (or “share”) is split among them according to their processing contribution. In these pools, a share is awarded to all participants who are able to present a valid proof of work of the same type as the proof of work that is used for creating blocks. However, this proof of work can be of lesser difficulty, requiring less time on average to generate (one of the main benefits of pool mining).

Mining is a random process (with high variance), one day they might mine 2% of the blocks, and then they might only get ~0.5% the rest of the week. So, that day they had very high luck, then the rest of the week they had very low luck. Overall, for the week as a whole in this example, they had slightly lower than normal luck.

12. WHAT MINING POOLS ARE GIGA WATT USING?

Giga Watt uses Slush Pool to mine Bitcoins, NanoPool for Ethereum and LitecoinPool for LTC. In the future the list of pools may grow.

13. REGARDING PAYMENTS FROM DASH POOL

Users have expressed concerns upon seeing that their Dash pool has not provided payment on their dashboard. Currently Dash pool users get rewards once every 2–3 days, so it may take up to 72 hours to see reflected rewards in the dashboard.

14. AM I CHARGED IF MY MINER IS DOWN?

No. If the miner is down, it is down on the dashboard, thus, it is down from the pool - no shares, no rewards, no power consumption.

15. REGARDING DELAYED HOSTING FEES FOR DASH MINERS

Some Dash miners were connected to the pool while Giga Watt ran user’s miners in test mode. After debugging all pool related issues, D3s appeared on user’s dashboards with all rewards for the connected period. The hosting fee was deducted subsequently.

11/29/2017, Moses Lake, S9s miners deployed on shelves in pod 3

16. REGARDING THE DASHBOARD

There have been issues around the fact that our dashboard and fee calculation system is built around reported hashrate, while D3 miners are not sending that out to pool. Meanwhile our systems take the miners reported hashrate, and calculate all the power consumption and fees based on that information. Thus we are sending static numbers to the system that are provided by the manufacturer and which differ from the effective rates. The reported rate and effective pool rate are two different numbers. Thus some clients can see their effective rate at pool, but there is currently no way they can see the rate reported by the miner. Effective rate may fluctuate from 3.7GH to 27GH. Nanopool gives reported hashrate, thus any GPU miners using that pool will not have their actual power draw represented.

At present we are charging by nominal consumption of the miner (for S9, L3, and D3). However we have started installing Raritan PX series smart PDUs that will report actual power consumption per socket.

17. REGARDING NICEHASH SUPPORT

Integration with nicehash.com is impossible for now, because the API for this service:

- Does not give the necessary information (reported/effective hashrate and shares per worker) for the correct calculation of the reward and hosting fee according to the algorithms incorporated in the giga-watt.com service architecture.

- It can not quickly track a fall in mining activity in the event that the device stops working for a time. The accuracy of calculating the hosting fee will thus be very conditional.

- Nicehash rewards all earnings in BTC regardless of the algorithm/coin. Because of depreciation of the coin that the device is mining with respect to BTC, there may be serious discrepancies between the calculated data and the real data, resulting in a total lack of profitability.

18. REGARDING PROHASHING SUPPORT

Integration with Prohashing is impossible for now due to the lack of a REST API on the part of the service. Statistics in the format they use can not be used by the Giga Watt platform. The technical implementation of issuing these statistics (web sockets) does not allow for the accumulation of data for the required period of time. If for some reason there is a break in service then we can not get the data necessary for calculating the rewards and hosting fee.

19. WHY ARE MY TOKENS SHOWING A LOW RENTAL RATE?

This may occur because the amount of tokens available is greater than necessary for the current miner deployment. Tokens will continue to be rented as needed when new miners go online.

20. WHY WAS THE WITHDRAWAL FROM MY BITCOIN PURSE MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE HEADLINE FIGURE?

Withdrawals have an initial fee. Upon the completion of the transaction and the receipt of the actual fee from the blockchain, the difference will be refunded to your wallet.

21. HOW DO I TRANSFER TOKENS FROM MY CRYPTONOMOS ACCOUNT TO MY GIGA WATT ACCOUNT?

Please see this post.
