Pune welcomes thousands of students every year, rendering them wonderful college experiences. It manages to weave both the hubbub of a metropolitan along with the peace of a small town.

Diversity of locations forms the heart of Pune- from mind-blowing food joints to luxurious fine-dines, from amazing multiplexes to enchanting theaters, from wonders of the nature to the wonders of history, the city has everything to offer in abundance.

But one, and solely one, question arises in the mind of a budding traveler- how on earth do I get to these marvelous places? Because let’s accept, it truly is a complication here. Without further ado, let’s look at all the travel options available at this point and just how convenient they are:

1. Public Bus

Commonly known in Pune as BRTS- Bus Rapid Transit System

PROS:

  1. High reach

The buses travel to all major as well as minor areas of Pune thus increasing connectivity.

2. High frequency

Buses are scheduled within short span of times to all destinations.

3. Extremely cost-effective

BRTS is the cheapest mode of transport in Pune.

4. Environment-friendly

Pooling causes lower consumption of natural fuels and hence leads to less pollution.

CONS:

  1. Slow mode of transport

The overall journey as a result of continuous halts at bus-stops couple with traffic makes it slow.

2. Uncomfortable ambiance

The quality of journey is not great because the buses are usually crowded and the seats not well-crafted.

3. Incapability of door-to-door facility

Although the bus-stops are present at frequent intervals of distance, chances of them being in front of one’s residence are low.

2. Automatic Rickshaw

Commonly referred to in Pune as auto or rick

PROS:

  1. Easy availability

The presence of auto stands is at frequent intervals of distances. Also, they can be availed anywhere on the roads as always moving about looking for passengers.

2. Door-to-door facility

The autos almost always drop the passengers to the required destinations.

3. Moderate in terms of speed

The nature of transport in terms of speed depends highly on the condition of the vehicle as well as the driver. But overall, it is moderately fast.

4. Environmental-friendly

Most auto-rickshaws around the city use CNG as fuel.

CONS:

  1. Lack of professionalism

The journey depends a lot on the drivers as the ride is flexible to their terms. Although a standard payment meter is present, they might refuse to travel according to it at certain locations. At times, they might refuse to travel altogether if its inconvenient for them.

2. Cost-ineffective over large distances

As compared to BRTS, the travel in an auto is costly.

3. Private Cabs

Private companies like Ola & Uber avail cab facilities all over Pune with the help of mobile applications

PROS

  1. Ease of usage

The usage of the mobile application is fairly simple where only a tap can book a cab and other features like tracking of the journey, etc. are availed.

2. Ease of availability

A large number of cabs are available for service and hence they arrive within minutes of booking.

3. Door-to-door facility

The pick-up and drop facilities are always from the pick-up locations to destinations which makes it extremely convenient for customers.

4. Fast mode of transport

Compared to other modes of transport, car travel is faster in Pune.

5. Comfortable atmosphere

Fully equipped with air conditioners and comfortable seats, the overall travelling experience is amiable.

CONS:

  1. Cost-ineffective

With all the advantages, naturally the cost also increases. However, the cost difference between an auto and a cab is not a lot.

4. Two-wheeler rentals

An upcoming facility in Pune where customers can rent two-wheelers.

PROS

  1. Independent use

The customers can use rentals as they please and don’t have to be dependent on external modes of transport and their fluctuations.

2. Fast mode of transport

Compared to other modes of transport, two-wheelers are the fastest in Pune.

3. Ease of travel

A two-wheeler is easy to navigate through the traffic of Pune.

CONS

  1. Cost-ineffective

The rentals slightly bend over to the costly side, but the advantages that they come along with make it worthwhile.

Hope you have an amazing time discovering Pune. Travelling in itself leads to one having the most interesting of experiences, here!
