We have a ton of updates for the RareRooms community today, so we’re going to get right to it. The first thing you’ll notice is a completely new 3D marketplace experience at RareRooms.io. Why is this a big deal? It lays the foundation for a whole new social experience for collectors and curators. Not only can you showcase your 2D & 3D NFTs in a personally curated virtual gallery, now you can also buy and sell 3D NFTs on the RareRooms marketplace.

What about the metaverse? Expansion and social interaction are two key initiatives coming to RareRooms. Imagine rooms that aren’t just rooms anymore, but actual NFTs themselves. NFTs that represent ownership in a wider landscape …or Mars-scape, that you can buy and sell? Yeah that’s coming too. Lastly, there’s two additional custom designed virtual worlds coming to the platform, Celestial Station and Modern Diamond, which will be our most expansive galleries designed to-date. These and many other fun rooms and experiences will be sold via the new marketplace, giving our collectors a home for all of their RareRooms interactions.

If you’re into procuring new drops from premier artists and brands, you’ll love this next part. RareRooms will be hosting curated 3D collections from partners across the industry, as well as dropping incredible artist collaborations that will include limited RareRooms as offerings, which may even include unique metaverse experiences for room visitors. All built on the Flow Blockchain and dropping in upcoming weeks.

round21 x RareRooms, The First Official Partner Drop

round21 founder, Jasmine Maietta, has spent decades in and around locker room culture and although she saw athletes lead, drive change, build community, and stand out, she didn’t see the world of sports supporting these athletes as individuals — in the game and out of it.

round21 was founded on the idea that expression shouldn’t be limited to off the court. At round21, they bring that passion, that meaning — their stories — to the field. Why not? They are unapologetically themselves, even when at play. So that should mean what you play with says something about who you are.

And in being true to themselves as athletes and fans, they are everywhere — physically, digitally, “digi-fizzy,” and all the way from the IRL courts to the metaverse. And with the future that web3 is bringing, you’ll bring your ball to where you play in the metaverse, just like you do IRL.

So when the opportunity to participate in this year’s Flow Fest with our friends at round21 came knocking, we got suuuuuper excited. Flow Fest is a month-long celebration of over 20 partners building on the Flow Blockchain ecosystem.

The round21 team thought what if they could make a set of 2121 (get it?) digital basketballs, partnered with NBA and WNBA players with amazing stories to tell for the “Legendary” balls (and there’s also one special non-athlete Legendary ball in there 👀), made sure the epics, rares, and commons were prime too, did giveaways for the next 12 months from the WNBA and NBA players to the collectors, gave the balls RareRooms utility (both display capabilities and in-game usage), and then held a tournament for ball owners with prizes? That’d be cool, huh?

So that’s what they did.

So how dope will the balls be? Well, given that using them will say something about yourself, they couldn’t slouch. Each unique variation was hand-made (…on a computer) to be maximally awesome.

For each partner athlete, there will be 21 signature “player edition” balls in this genesis collection. Pulling one of those will be a big time W and possible key to future athlete engagement opportunities and/or giveaways. Packs are priced at $89 and come with a 10% chance to pull a Legendary Player’s Edition Signature Athlete Ball.

Featured Signature Balls From:
Michael Carter-Williams, Renee Montgomery, Angel McCoughtry, Ticha Penicheiro, Marcus Zegarowski, Gary Harris, Mason Plumlee, Tamika Catchings, John Collins, Swin Cash

Can you Play With the NFT Basketballs?

Of course you can! The partnership between RareRooms and round21 underscores both companies’ interest in delivering innovative and experiential NFTs that inspire community interaction and social play. The 3D basketball NFTs can be used to play in the immersive RareRooms’ mini game “PopShot”, giving the owners a chance to win community rewards and bragging rights. More information to come soon. Make sure to join the RareRooms Discord community for updates.

That’s it. See You in RareRooms!

round21 x RareRooms are really excited to tell some of these stories, bring this first metaverse basketball series to the world, pull together a community of collectors, sports fans and athletes, party in RareRooms, and continue to deliver future utility to the collectors.
