We had a good meeting yesterday with development to review the requirements, architecture, and design of the GigApps Beta product. It was exciting to see the past months of research and planning coming together so well.

For the Beta launch of GigApps, we are looking to partner with enterprises and blockchain companies looking to get front-end and blockchain development completed by our early adopter development teams. Look for this to be available in the spring timeframe.

GigApps Development

GigApps is the first marketplace to be launched on the GigEx platform. As internal and external teams build GigApps, we are in fact “eating our own dog food”. This means that smart contracts are created internally for each development gig to be performed.

In the case of GigApps, gigs are simply bite size software deliverables called user stories. The customer and the development team agree on clear acceptance criteria up-front, which get included inside the user story smart contract (the customer in this case is GigLabs). And as with any gig on the GigEx platform, each user story will have a certain amount of GIG tokens locked in it for the eventual payment of work. Upon delivery and acceptance of each user story, the smart contract immediately unlocks the GIG tokens and pays the team of designers, developers, testers, etc who took part in delivering the working software.

We strongly believe in this development approach for building GigApps, as it allows us to use our own platform in a real-world setting and work out the kinks prior to the Beta launch. In addition, since GigEx and GigApps are open source projects, it allows teams at large to contribute and be rewarded with platform tokens for their early efforts.

Vision

We have been solidifying a strategic plan that will make our long term vision for the GigEx, and the gig marketplaces built on top, a reality. In short, we are striving to create a world where you can work where, when, and how you want. You should be able to do this and earn a wage you deem fair, with the mechanisms in place to provide you with the benefits necessary to retire, take vacation, and live healthy.

In the coming weeks, we will be posting materials that lay out how GigLabs and our partners will deliver on this vision.
