Uber’s CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, recently signed a petition to the state of Washington, asking them to pass legistlation to provide benefits to the gig economy worker. You can see the original article here for more information.

The momentum is now building up for employment law around the world to keep pace with this growing class of workforce. UK Prime Minister Teresa May made statements to this effect last week at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The independent review she commission recommended individuals who work for gig economy platforms like Uber and Deliveroo be given a new classification of ‘dependent contractors’ — and that there should be a clear distinction made between that and the “legitimately self-employed”.

We at GigLabs have been on a mission to bring benefits to the gig economy through the use of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency economics. This is not a state of Washington issue. This is a global issue that will take a number of partners and helping hands to solve.

GigLabs is building the base platform to bring benefits to the gig worker. We are always looking for community developers, ecosystem partners, and investors to help deliver the right solution to this global problem. If you are intersted in contributing to or joining the platform, please reach out to us at: www.giglabs.io
