Performing arts are an integral part of any event. An event organizer has multiple priorities, but, hiring an artist is almost always the biggest one.

An artist adds glamour to an event & hooks the audience. They are the ones who make the event memorable & attending it worth while.

Considering the importance of a live performance for an event, there are many challenges that an event organizer faces. Today, we will discuss a few challenges faced by them.

Limited talent pool

An event organizer keeps looking out for new & good talent for their events. The nature of the artist management industry makes this process hectic for them.

At the moment, artist management is majorly an unstructured & human centric industry, resulting in clash of interests, which in turn makes it costlier for organizers to hire good artists.

An organizer has to remain in touch of multiple artist managers to access a decent pool of artists. This becomes even more difficult when you are not a seasoned event organizer & want some one to perform at either a personal or a corporate event.

Expectation management

Event organizers have to keep in mind the profile of their audience while choosing the artists they are hiring.

All artists have their influences & inspirations, which directly reflects in their art. The views or the message of what they are trying to perform, might not go well with the wrong audience profile. So, it becomes very important for event organizers to hire the right artists according to their expected audience profile. These kind of insights, which might help an organizer to choose the right artist, are very rarely available in the market.

Unstructured payment

There is no way an organizer can know that what he is paying for hiring an artist is the right amount. There is no standardization in the payment & artist managers often do not quote the right amount.

This problem becomes even worse when an organizer has to hire multiple artists in a limited budget. Getting the right solution in such cases becomes very difficult for the organizers.

Lack of professionalism

In developing stages artists lack management skills & don’t have enough resources to hire the right management.

This becomes a huge problem for organizers. They at times have to face unprofessional behavior after hiring artists for their events.

Although, there have been multiple cases where artists have faced issues such as stuck payments & rude behavior. Still, the organizers as a whole face a lot of issues due to lack of professionalism in artist management.

Lack of technology

Current artist hiring solutions in the industry offer little to no use of technology. Matching the right artist to the right audience, as discussed above, can also be solved through right use of scalable technology, currently unavailable in the market.

Event organizers can get a lot of help from analytics solution like ‘predictive & audience analytics’ in making their events successful.

Media & entertainment industry is evolving everyday & is growing at quite a fast rate. For live music to keep up with other channels of entertainment, the problems mentioned above need robust solutions.
