PROBING INTO THE MANAGEMENT OF MEDICAL EMERGENCIES IN GATED COMMUNITIES

With further observations from the interviews, online survey responses and feedback, our team narrowed down the area of focus to ‘Medical Emergencies’. As part of our primary research, we conducted interviews in four gated communities to know the in-mate’s awareness of ‘emergency situations’ and how they have or will handle it. Ten (10) residents, society admin and six (6) security guards were interviewed, along with one hundred and eighteen (118) online survey responses were recorded.

Revised Problem Statement

Most often, in gated communities, the ‘Medical Emergencies’ are not efficiently managed. The residents and staff are either ignorant about the available facilities in their society or are confused on how to adequately handle a medical emergency.

Interview Responses

Research

From the responses collected through the online surveys and the interviews of the residents in gated communities, we observed that, the ‘Medical Emergencies’ are not dealt efficiently. Majority of them felt that the ‘emergency’ as such is not properly looked on to by the mobile platform nor the community management. People said they would reach out for their neighbours in prior, to calling the security or the ambulance directly, for help during an emergency situation. They were positively willing to accept new features and methods, dealing with ‘Medical Emergencies’, if impemented in the platform and the community respectively. Few of them even suggested ideas and gave critical feedbacks.

Expected Outputs -

We are planning to come up wireframes, possibly ‘minimum viable product’, of an extended ‘Emergency feature’ along with a mock-up device, which is integrated to the My Gate platform.

Expected Outcomes -

Understanding and incorporating new services, which deals with ‘Medical Emergency’, in the system and intern generate revenue for the platform. Giving ‘first aid’ workshops, by the platform or tying up with the existing medical awareness groups, to make the security guards, residents and other staff aware of the possible procedures they can perform in a medical emergency in their society.
