THE BACK TO SCHOOL CELEBRATION 2019!!!
Thatâs right, weâre starting the school year off with SIX WEEKS of fun ways to make Gimkit even more exciting.
This is the first year Josh has not gone back to school since Pre-K, and itâs been quite some time for the rest of us here on the Gimkit Team, but that doesnât mean we arenât excited to celebrate our awesome community of educators and students who go back every year!
So letâs get to it! Here are some highlights to look forward to during our Back to School Celebration:
đ Kitroduce Yourself
Ice Breakers are a great way to start the school year and get to know your new students, but it can be a little tedious and awkward, especially with students who arenât sure how best to introduce themselves. Many of you have used KitCollab to have students create their own questions for Kits. With
Kitroduce Yourself, students can add their name paired with a photo of themselves to their question. All the questions then form a Kit for students to play while getting to know their peers in a way that is memorable and fun.
Weâre big fans of the game âthree truths and a lie,â wherein a player writes four facts about themselves, but one isnât true. Peers then have to guess which is the truth and which is the lie.
Start your classroom introductions strong! Kitroduce Yourself will be available from August 15th to September 20th.
đ§ Back to School Beat
Itâs no secret that we love to dance and students were feelinâ the Summer Song a few months ago. We LOVED seeing the videos everyone shared of students showing off their best moves. So we are dropping a new powerup, the Back to School Beat to ring in the new school year!
This will be sure to get you into the groove⊠and be ready to move, because with the Back to School Beat comes the #GimkitDanceChallenge! We want to see YOUR classroomâs Gimkit grooves on social media. Post your video and weâll pick our favorite clip. The dancers in that clip will help Josh pick out the next song powerup!
Start busting those moves soon because the Back to School Beat is available from August 26th until September 20th.
đ Teacher Feature
While this isnât something exclusive to just our Back to School Celebration, weâll be rolling it out for the first time in September and weâre excited to share it with you all. The Teacher Feature is an opportunity for us to acknowledge an educator every month who weâve had the honor of working with to learn more about what drives their passions and how theyâre using Gimkit to create memorable classroom experiences.
Weâll be featuring an educator every month in our blog to highlight some of the remarkable work being done in classrooms.
You can look for our first Teacher Feature blog on September 4th.
đBack Week
Students and teachers wonât be the only ones going back to school. This week marks the return of modes and powerups youâve enjoyed in the past.
If youâre newer to Gimkit, this is a chance to get a taste of some of the modes and powerups you may have heard about.
If youâre an avid Gimkit user, hereâs a chance to revisit some of the features you love and miss.
Each Back Week powerup/mode will be available for one day only. Hereâs what you can look forward to:
đ±âđ€Monday, 9/9: HIDDEN MODE
In this mode, the leaderboard is hidden until the end of the game, so players wonât know who is ahead or trailing until they finish.
âTuesday, 9/10: REDUCER
This powerup allows you to reduce earnings of another player or team by 20% for one minute.
đžWednesday, 9/11: SPIDER WEB
The Spider Web powerup freezes your account balance for 20 seconds. Shop til you drop and your balance will remain the same!
đThursday, 9/12: Ok, you asked for itâŠ. here he comesâŠ. THANOS MODE
Back from the snap, itâs the mode youâve been asking for. In Thanos Mode, students collect all six infinity stones or survive the snap.
đČFriday, 9/13: SUPER RICH MODE
This is the chance for your students to âmake it rainâ in the game! Dollar amounts are multiplied by 500.
Back Week runs from September 9th to September 13th. We canât wait to do a little time traveling to give everyone a chance to enjoy the modes and powerups of the past.
After weâve traveled back, itâs time to go full steam ahead. In that spirit, weâll be capping off Back to School 2019 with our Grand FinaleâŠâŠ
đą GIMKIT 4.0
Itâs finally time! We have been getting so many amazing suggestions and valuable feedback. Weâve been listening and working hard to prepare our largest update ever.
Weâre going to be announcing it LIVE from the Gimkit Clubhouse (pssssst thatâs our office) on September 19th, so mark your calendars because weâve got some cool things in store and you wonât want to miss it.
So there we have it. Itâs gonna be a Fall like no other. Like our educators, weâve had a busy Summer of preparations here at Gimkit, and weâre ready to get back to school and start the year off strong!
