Let’s talk about travel technology
Maybe you’ve been asking, how do I use insights from Big Data to my advantage as a travel business? Where does AI play a role in my business? What are the differences between manual and fully automated data mapping and what are their impacts? What do I require from an API? And with all this talk about the importance of personalization, how do I implement it?
Are these the type of questions you’ve been asking and are you confident you’ve found answers and know where to go for relevant ideas and solutions? We’re here to contribute to and even start the conversation about these very issues.
Over the last several years, the travel industry has changed and continues to do so at a rapid pace. We’re moving into a new era, particularly in regard to the hotel distribution landscape. With travel shifting nearly entirely online, cutting-edge and top notch technological innovations are required to keep up. Competition has intensified and managing acquisition costs, retention, operational costs and technology, while balancing pricing strategies and generating profits is a delicate balance that is becoming more and more complex.
While many travel businesses are adopting technical solutions more readily, finding the right one can be challenging, especially because there’s not one universal system or tool used by everyone. With the diversity of products, and channels and methods for communicating information, we’re often limited by the fact that everyone is speaking their own language. The constant need to exchange information between businesses, as well as the breakdown of communication require the information to be translated, often times, manually, wasting significant time and money.
The need for new technology solutions
As I’ve become more aware of these challenges, I’ve seen the need for technology solutions that specifically tackle these problems and fill the gaps for relevant travel businesses. Who am I? Andrew Spektor, CEO of Gimmonix, and this is how I started eight years ago.
We at Gimmonix, established in 2010, have taken on these demands and spent the last seven years building, adjusting, and perfecting our technology offerings based not only on the current direction of the industry and each participant’s needs, but also on staying ahead of current trends to create solutions for the problems and successes of tomorrow. We’ve realized, through our experience and the eight years of data collection, that while many travel agencies are aware of their problems with look-to-book ratios, less than optimal conversion rates, and speed, they can’t necessarily identify the root problem, or more importantly, determine the game changing solution.
With a palpable lack of in-depth resources and research, there’s a need for a space to discuss these issues and complex problems, talk about ideas and current developments, publish useful and valuable information, and offer tangible solutions. That’s where this blog comes in.
We’ve already collected several topics that we feel need more discussion, and we’re ready to get started. For example, as a travel business, adopting the right technology and implementing it properly is crucial to stay afloat in the era we now live in. How do you do it? Stay posted for our first blog “How to make your OTA more successful” for some key ideas and tips. And if you have any topics you’d like us to discuss, let us know in the comment section below.
