Public Axis: GIPHY Arts Launches a Roku App to Stream Commissioned Artist Clips
Today, GIPHY Arts is pleased to present our latest project: Public Axis. Public Axis brings Clips made by GIPHY Artists from mobile screens to the big screen (TV!). Curious about it? Check out all the details, below!
What is Public Axis?
Public Axis is GIPHY’s way of bringing artist content to an even broader audience. As a division of GIPHY devoted to GIF art and artists, we worked with artists to produce 30 second original shorts with sound. This collection of weird, electric, animated, and expansive Clips by GIPHY Arts’ verified artists is what makes up Public Axis.
Where can I find Public Axis?
Public Axis will be available as a channel on Roku. You can cast GIPHY content from your mobile browser to compatible TV devices or you can directly acquire a Roku Player.
The channel is available in the following regions: Panama; Colombia; United States; Costa Rica; Chile; Australia; El Salvador; Ireland; Peru; Argentina; Guatemala; México; Canada; Nicaragua; France; United Kingdom; Germany; Honduras; Brazil.
Users in these regions can now add the Public Axis channel by visiting the Channel Store or by using this code 5PZHHXM.
Is Public Axis Free?
Yes. Public Axis is free for everyone who has access to a free Roku app and is an ad-free experience. This is a platform to generate an upscale viewing experience of the original commissions that artists have developed with GIPHY Arts.
How does the app function? Is it just a constant feed of loops or is it selectable?
The Publix Axis app is hosted on Roku as a streaming platform for commissioned GIPHY Artist Clips. It is selectable and there are no loops unless you manually choose to watch the same Clip over and over again.
What about attribution? How will I know which artist made each Clip?Attribution is a top priority for GIPHY Arts. Every single work is credited directly based on information provided by the artist.
Will the app strictly be accessible through Roku devices or will this eventually be online/elsewhere too?
Roku is currently the only app. We chose Roku because there is no paywall or subscription needed to watch Public Axis.
