We are pleased to highlight GIPHY Arts’ partnership with SpraySeeLA, a week-long mural festival that took place in July 2021. The artist-run festival was organized by SpraySeeGlobal, a network of professional painters from around the world that meet up in cities across the United States and its territories to paint.
In honor of their first West Coast festival, over thirty world-class mural painters gathered to spread large-scale creative expression throughout the streets of Los Angeles, with a focus on local public schools and communities.

Partners such as GIPHY Arts, 11:11 A Creative Collective, Kobra Paint, Liquid Death, PixelStix and the MidCity Neighborhood Council rallied behind the talented lineup of participating artists. In addition to the many painted artworks, the artists also created a series of Augmented Reality GIPHY Clips from a selection of their murals. Once the murals were painted throughout the week, animation and sound was added to the digital versions.

The animated murals are discoverable through SpraySeeLA’s GIPHY channel and through the PixelStix platform, a technology platform supporting the mural arts movement that can turn any collection of murals into an interactive gallery. Search “SpraySeeLA’’ to locate the murals, or find them on the map on PixelStix, and pay them a visit in person when in Los Angeles.

Participating painters include Los Angeles based artists Allison Bamcat, Angel Once, Atlas Graffiti, Bair Brains, Berk Visual, BREK, Cache Chicken, Dirt Cobain, Roshi, Skela, RFX1, The Obanoth, Trade One, Eric Skotnes, Phobik God, Genoski, Goop Massta, Kar Part, Kiptoe Matt Gondek, Mister Toledo, Ms. Yellow, Mufasa Floats, Roshi, The Obanoth, Trade One & Wizard Skull. Visiting artists include Ol’ Boy Melon, Patch Whisky, Eric Karbeling, Registered Artist, Rif Raf Giraffe, Devour, Jack Soren, JC Rivera & Vela, with sound and animation by Sheppa.
