Miley, Meryl, Oprah. Need we say more?

The 2024 Grammy Awards delivered a treasure trove of iconic moments Sunday night as the industry braved the rain to celebrate a stacked list of nominees and industry legends.

From the ceremony’s moving In Memoriam tribute to icons like Tina Turner and Tony Bennett, to Taylor Swift’s 14th Grammy win (and surprise album announcement), this year’s Grammy Awards show was an unforgettable event, one that was forever immortalized in GIFs on the official Grammy Awards GIPHY channel.

Did you show up late like Taylor and miss a few moments? Don’t worry, here’s a look at the best GIFs from the 2024 Grammy Awards.

All the first-time Grammy winners

This year’s Grammy Awards ceremony was an emotional one as several industry veterans received their flowers after years in the business.

For starters, Miley Cyrus won her first-ever Grammy Award this year, taking home best pop solo performance for “Flowers.”

Cyrus took a moment during her acceptance speech to fangirl over Mariah Carey, who presented the award to her.

“This is just too iconic. Oh my God, I just got stuck in the rain in traffic and thought I was going to miss this moment. And I could’ve missed the award, that’s fine, but not Mariah Carey. I just saw you at the Hollywood Bowl; it was everything.”

Cyrus later returned to the stage at the end of the night to accept the Grammy for record of the year for “Flowers.” She ended her second acceptance speech of the night in classic style:

SZA also won big this year, taking home her first solo Grammys for best R&B song and best progressive R&B album. (She previously won best pop duo/group performance with Doja Cat in 2022.)

With nine nominations for her album “SOS,” SZA was also the most nominated artist at this year’s Grammy Awards. Here’s what she said in her acceptance speech for best R&B song:

“You don’t really understand. I came really, really far and I can’t believe this is happening and it feels very fake.”

Finally, industry veteran Victoria Monét received her first Grammys this year for best new artist, best R&B album and best engineered album. Monét was the second-most nominated artist this year behind SZA.

This year also marked Monét’s first time at the Grammy Awards ceremony. She received her award with an emotional speech, recalling her years in the industry working behind the scenes for other artists.

“My roots have been growing underneath ground, unseen, for so long, and I feel like today I’m sprouting, finally above ground,”

Look who’s in the audience!

This year’s Grammy Awards ceremony was also a real who’s who of Hollywood, as several stars showed up to cheer on the nominees and performers.

For starters, Meryl Streep arrived fashionably late to the ceremony on Sunday. Her tardiness did not go unnoticed by host Trevor Noah.

Streep was also spotted cheering on SZA with Taylor Swift after her best R&B song win.

Why was Streep at the Grammys? Well, Streep attended the ceremony this year to help her son-in-law Mark Ronson present record of the year.

Oprah also attended the Grammy Awards this year as a presenter; she opened Fantasia Barrino’s electric tribute to legend Tina Turner, who passed away last year.

Oprah also enjoyed this year’s show as an audience member; she was spotted by the cameras singing along to Cyrus’s performance of “Flowers.”

Of course, we can’t forget about Beyoncé, who attended this year’s ceremony with her husband Jay-Z, the recipient of the 2024 Dr. Dre Global Impact Award.

Jay-Z used his acceptance speech to shout out his wife, who made history last year by breaking the record for the most Grammys ever won by an artist (32).

Here’s what he said in his speech:

“I don’t want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone, and never won Album of the Year. […] Think about that. The most Grammys, never won Album of the Year. That doesn’t work.”

Beyoncé was spotted by the cameras in the crowd, quietly listening to her husband. Here’s how GIPHY Pop framed the moment:

Taylor Swift also won big Sunday night, taking home album of the year for “Midnights” and making history as the first person ever to win album of the year four times.

That’s not all: Swift also made headlines for announcing her new album “The Tortured Poets Department” after her best pop vocal album win.

Swift was also the subject of several GIFs Sunday night as she palled around with longtime producer Jack Antonoff and friend Lana Del Rey.
