She’s Dutch, she’s big in Japan, and she’s capturing hearts everywhere — it’s Miffy!
Created by Dutch artist Dick Bruna in 1955, picture book icon Miffy is having a moment stateside after decades of popularity in Europe and Asia.
Who is Miffy? According to Miffy’s official website, Miffy is an “uncomplicated and innocent” bunny who “has a positive attitude and is always open to new experiences.”
With more than 85 million copies sold worldwide, Miffy — or as people in the Netherlands know her, “Nijntje” — is also Bruna’s most popular picture book series, having been translated into over 50 languages.
From Miffy cafés to Miffy key chains, Miffy is truly everywhere nowadays, including GIPHY, where she has an official GIPHY channel.
