Blaming Women for Sexual Assault(It’s Bad Enough When Men Do It. But Why Would a Woman?)
When women go against women, it gives more credibility to the misconception that women are to blame.
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
This past week I came across two women who said that women were at least partially responsible for sexual harassment and assault.
Why would a woman go against other women when the #MeToo movement affects them just the same?
It’s bad enough when men silence women’s voices. But why would a woman do the same?
Any guesses?
· A way to keep anxiety at bay; because they fear it could happen to them?
· Deeply held religious convictions? (This only happens to ‘bad’ girls. Not those who are devoted to faith).
· Personal reasons?
These are just guesses.
But, based on my experience and research, here’s one of the main reasons a woman would go against the #MeToo movement:
It hasn’t happened to them.
These women have not experienced a sexual assault. That’s why it’s so hard for them to understand.
