Over 100 attendees braved the San Francisco rain to attend Indeed’s first Girl Geek X session at their spacious downtown SF office. The evening was filled with food, drinks, and plenty of networking!

Indeed’s Women in Tech (WIT) group hosted five speakers from a variety of backgrounds to share their inspirations, challenges, and how they can help attendees learn from their experiences in the tech industry.

Speakers and topics included:

Ashley Graves, Indeed Security Engineer, who spoke about her start in security engineering, why it’s her jam, and why she owes it all to Neopets.

Janie Clarke, Indeed Product Manager, who taught the group about “mastermind” groups and gave everyone a new 2018 goal to create one.

Jessi Roesner, Indeed Site Reliability Engineer, who explained what why SREs are a perfect mashup of other roles.

Samikshya Patra, Indeed Engineering Manager, who made everyone rethink agile and how to truly implement the concept on a team.

Kim Williams, Indeed Director of Experience Design, who talked about mommy guilt and why you need to build your tribe to succeed.

Throughout the evening, attendees shared their favorite moments on Twitter and we wanted to share a roundup of our favorite highlights.

Enjoy!

Thanks again to the Indeed team for hosting us. We’d also like to share a very special thank you to Victoria de Winter, Indeed full stack software engineer who served as the organizer from Indeed. As always, thank you to every single Girl Geek who attended and made the event one to remember.

Having FOMO about missing this event? Never fear — there’s plenty of upcoming sessions! Check out girlgeek.io to sign up.
