This can be seen as the utensil you cook the jollof with.

Sublime Text — credit: VisualHunt.com

Whether you use a pot or a saucepan or a frying pan to cook your jollof, we won’t care. But it has to be jollof at the end, and delicious.

Same with programming/code. You can use any editor of your choice, so far as you are comfortable and productive with it. An editor is just a program you write your poetic code into, just like the intro image (Sublime Text)

Below are common editors for HTML/CSS/JavaScript, (since those languages will be our major focus on this series):

  • Sublime Text: This is a lightweight editor that can be used to write code of any language. It is normally preferred for web applications and shorter programs. Download here
  • Brackets: This is a very lightweight editor for web apps too. Focus is just on the three musketeers. Download here
  • Atom: This is a bit heavy IDE. With more advanced features. Download here

You can just install one of them. However, you can try all in order to find the one that best suits you for the tutorials that follow.

Thanks for reading. Give me some claps if you liked the post. You can ask anything in the comments too. Have a nice day.

I’m like water. I'm not brilliant. But I love to learn.
